TH-X00/TR-X00/E-MU Teak/Denon biodynamic general discussion

I know how good and yet how inexpensive Accessory House Global pads have been so I’m buying with confidence. Their pads have been fantastic.

Yeah the “knock off” Oris are legit.

These are an obvious upgrade vs the stock pads. I’m sure it will be difficult to tell from the photo but the leather is higher quality than stock pads. Anyone wanting a pad upgrade yet keeping the TR-X00 as stock as possible should not hesitate picking these up.

How about the hole, is it bigger than the originals? Does your ear fit inside?

That does look plush… :eyes:

Good question. I think the hole size is about the same, but the leather is softer and allows a better more complete fit around/over my ear. Maybe it gives a bit more? It is a better fit for my ear.

That’s the reason these pads “won” my pad comparison. They are just better stock pads.

How do you like your purple hearts?

Had them awhile and was thinking they weren’t my cup of tea… love the bass but the highs were too much… the liquid spark helps but they’re still not perfect… good improvement though

Hi there,
I bought these pads last week on the recommendation of Coconut.

After a week they were arrived in Germany.
Unpacked and put it on, of course, which was a bit annoying.
First of all without Attunion rings from Dekoni.
And she found something sobering.
The bass was softer but not instead, the mids unchanged and the highs were significantly less pronounced.
With the Lawton, the treble was more extreme in comparison, and the bass was not quite as firm.
As a little disappointed I looked at the desk and saw the Attunion rings and put it on.
Suddenly there were audible differences with and without the Attunion ring, the bass has increased again and has become stronger and harder than without, the mids also slightly raised and the highs are absolutely not sharp, they have decreased more.
I have to say that besides the originals they are the best pads, the comfort is very, very good compared to the originals, and very close.
Almost better.
Then comes the 3rd place, the Lawtons and the failure pads from Dekoni, which I also read from the United States. They are for the Th 900 that Dekoni recommended for the Tr x00.
The bass is quite good there, but the mids sound muffled and the highs even more.
But you can’t avoid the Lawton Cups if you want to top it off with the pads that Coconut had recommended.
Big thanks from me, I am happy to hear the Fostex again in the future.

edit:
After a few hours listening to music and playing and of course my ears have got used to the sound.
Can I add the following.
The Lawton pads are generally brighter and sharper in the heights.
The lighter didn’t really bother me because it’s a little better for gaming.
The new pads with the rings are a little darker compared to Lawton.
When I compare it with the Denon Ah d7200, I can still hear noticeable differences.
The Denon is darker again and goes deeper in the bass, I would say almost in the middle, the Fostex comes with the new pads crisper in the bass, but not quite as deep as the Denon, but that certainly has other causes and would push it carefully onto the cups.
But they are tonal, however, also different in terms of dynamics. Now, I did not want to specifically mention the Denon as a comparison, but only to describe it in terms of feeling.
I can only say again that the pads are really really good.
If I hadn’t thought that they make that much.
I’m currently really happy with it.
Now I just have to confess to my wife that I ordered the He4xx, :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:if I had waited one more day I wouldn’t have ordered it and the Fostex almost saw the front door.
Since I was so disappointed when the other pads were on and Denon had heard, these were worlds for me, but my gut feeling did not disappoint me I would have regretted selling it and later heard one at a trade fair and said shit Why.
Thanks again to Coconut for trying so many different pads, which is not easy as there are so many different pads for Fostex.

One Thing:For Europe guys you can ordered the Pads here and choose the Fostex pads.
So we don‘t pay until Tax and Shiptime is not so long. The Tax are not many but until.

was emailing mark lawton and he suggested a way to relieve the “shouty” and somewhat fatiguing nature of the purpleheart is by getting a thicker pad like the lawton angle sheepskin which brings the drivers further from the ears… has anyone found this to be the case?

Yes I think the Lawton pads soften up the sound a bit (although you might loose some bass impact)

I wouldn’t mind that trade off tbh… I’m also asking him if he has eom ebony or walnut cups I may be willing to purchase… I noticed in that graphs way back in the thread they’re a bit less peaky.

Try Ori lambskin pads with attenution rings. The bass is basically equal to stock but with a bit of added soundstage that reduces fatigue in my opinion. This is what I personally use and I am never left wanting for bass or feeling fatigued after long listening sessions. Plus the Ori pads are super comfortable.

Attenuation ring is supposed make it less v shaped is what I’m reading? Hadn’t considered those yet

Are these comparable to the lawton pads? They’re mentioned quite a bit in here:

Check this out at Amazon.ca
Sheepskin Replacement Ear Pads Compatible with Fostex TH-600 TH-610 TH-900/900MK2 FOSTEX T50/T40/T20RP E-MU Teak, Massdrop TH-X00 and TR-X00 Headphones (Black Sheepskin Leather) https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07X1L287G/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_oEhzEbN68TDEZ

The attenuation rings bring the bass back to stock levels, as most pads reduce the bass by them selves (the stock pads have the attenuation rings built-in).

I have not tried Lawton pads personally but from what I have read they are not really meant for X00s. The Lawton pads are meant for the TH900 first and foremost I believe. I personally use the Ori pads as they are the most comfortable I have tried and change the sound signature so little (other than the aforementioned sound stage bump) that I can’t really justify NOT using them.

The pads you linked are also a good option. @PapaEmeritus can tell you more as he uses those pads on all his Lawton mods, but they seem to be very similar to the Ori pads, maybe a touch thinner.

I appreciate the insight… I’ll try something soon… on the liquid spark they’ve become pretty close to ideal… I wish id tried them with the zen dac
