Out of the Package find is very good.

I think with the Eq you can push it a bit more.

If youāre not sure about the cups use something like normal scotch tape to hold the foam discs inside the cups and see if its something you like. If you enjoy the sound use the stronger adhesive that comes in the kit to attach them to your cups. If not just remove the foam and the scotch tape. If you enjoy the bass on your Denon then you most likely wonāt enjoy the cup tuning.
Thanks for the tip with the tape, Iāll take into account.
Yes, I am a little obsessed with bass, but I like to give something from it if the rest fits. Bass is certainly not all in the music. Even if I like it.
As long as it doesnāt sound like the Hifiman He4xx, Iām already satisfied in advance.
I donāt like it at all, because I lack everything.
What Iāve read about the Rosewood I think will be a good compromise. If it doesnāt fit on the D2000, I would still have the TR x00 Mahogany as a test object here, but I think it will fit, which is good for me on the D2000 What I like is the very good stereo separation he has. The tr x00 plays a bit uncoordinated in comparison, I have a feeling. Itās a bit difficult to describe how I mean it. I am going to be surprised. I also see whether the cups make a difference will do like the pads.
Why get EMU cups? How are they different? is there a page for them or did you just email EMU? How many varieties of wood does EMU have? How much are they?
To put it cheekily.
I donāt want to question the quality and competence of the Lawton.
They are beautiful and certainly sound great.
However, the price is a bit steep, but justified with certainty. It is not easy to find different types of wood, you can only get a lot in small quantities because it is rare.
The EMu Cups just offer a cheaper price that is still economical, I canāt say how the results are compared, but they also offer to stand out again, although the Trx00 is now becoming an exotic because it is no longer sold. Let me put it this way, the Emu cups will offer a further standard than the Lawton, every cup set is unique, but you have to like it too.
It can also happen that the Lawtons give you something that you might not like, it probably already existed and the price was high.
Ultimately, you have to know your own limits on how far you want to go with the story.
Ah i forgot here the Pricelist:
Palo Santo, Ebony US$140
Rosewood, Purpleheart, Mahogany, Zebra, Sapele 120 US$
Bamboo US$100
20Dollar plus for shipment with Fedex in your Country
Contactmail is here: [email protected] they can go a few Days before you become a answer from Emu.
But informe you a little bit before you buy one of a pair of Cups what are the difference ectā¦
I went with EMU cups because as you know finding Fostex branded cups for the X00 line is pretty much impossible to find on their own unless you buy the entire headphone. The cups that Lawton sell are beautifully crafted but the cup dimensions are a little different than the stock cups. While that may translate into improvements to the sound signature I wanted something that closely resembled the stock cups from the X00 line. I mention a couple of posts earlier that price was also a factor. The Lawton equivalent of an Ebony cup starts roughly around $300 and can jump to close to $500 depending on the grade of the wood. It was kind of a no brainer to go with EMU over the Lawtons. Iāll definitely give the Lawton cups a go in the near future. As Delleh mentioned above EMU offers the Palo Santo, Ebony, Rosewood, Purple Heart, Mahogany, Zebra, Sapele, Teak, and Bamboo.
Thanks for answering my questions. How do you order them? how much do they cost?
See my last posting in the End.So you see the Wood and Pricelist and Contact.
Mentioned above you can contact them at [email protected]
Prices are also listed above in Deleehs post. When you make your inquiry make sure to let them know what cup you want to cut down on time. It takes a couple of days for them to answer your email. Shipping is $20 on top of the price of the cup of your choosing. Once your payment is sent itāll take about a week for them to send you a shipment confirmation and tracking number. They use Fedex two day express so the expected delivery date is two days after shipment.
Iām considering buying the emu ebony cups, so this info was very helpful. I originally wanted to buy an X00 ebony, but couldnāt find one so I stick with the mahogany (I donāt really regret it, I was really curious about the mahogany too).
And, oh god, those look gorgeous.
Itās kind of funny that they cost almost as much as the TH900 drivers, though. Really makes me wonder which way I should take.
Iāve had my X00 for over a week now, but I havenāt given them a real try so far since I only have a Syba Sonic and it has this constant background noise at high volume which I can hear even when Iām playing something, it sounds awful with my X00ās, so Iām still waiting for my JDS atom which should arrive next week. It wouldnāt feel right ordering a TH900 driver before even giving these a good listen, lol. Where can the TH900 driver be ordered, by the way?
This made me think, Iāve seen numerous posts about similar experiences regarding how the driver-side Lawton tune-up changes the sound, but Iām still not sure if these changes are in the sound signature only, or if it actually improves detail retrieval too, what do you guys say?
So imo it does end up improving detail, separation and also staging from what it does, really makes them sound more refined. Itās not extremely drastic but it is noticable
you have to special order from parts sites. Compass for example requires you to submit a serial number of an existing set of TH900s before theyāll order you a pair. Youāll also see them pop up every now and then. You canāt go wrong with either Ebony or Purple Heart cups.
Parts number for the 900 drivers are 1471548843
you might want to try other sites if you donāt have a pair of 900s
Glad to hear I am not the only one that thinks that track is amazing for a true sub-bass test! Hans did amazing stuff there.
Itās an awesome track for sure!
Iāve been back and forth between all my headphones all week (working from home) and keep coming back to the X00 Ebony. This is including my Focal Elex, Elegia and ZMF Aeolus to name just a few.
Damn good headphone for sure.
Hello,
2 days ago i have recived my Lawton Dampkit from America for my Denon Ah D 2000.It was Easy to made.
I find the Denon D2000 after Mod better. Before it was not Bad to,better as the Fostex without mod.
The highs on the Denon without Mod is not so grave as the Fostex.
I have only put the Mod on the driver, the plastic cups i have let it.
Finally Today i have recived the beautiful Rosewood cups from E-mu.
Very beautiful,E-mu have give 10 screws in the Kit,very Nice.
I thinks i can do it in ten minutes for the install.
Nothing, first Step cuting the nodes because the cups canĀ“t close it.
And i must put it out the Driver from the frame for a better cut.
Then I noticed that the cups did not fit properly into the driver, and I had to sand the inside of the cups with sandpaper.
I also saw that I pull it through when sanding so that the surface remains flat and is not humped in places.
I also moistened you a little because you were very dry, apparently to help.
It is important that you make sure that when you put the cup on the driver it is easy.
Otherwise if there is too much tension and you tighten the screws it can crack.
So pay attention, itās an important step.
Since the driver is already detached from the frame, first the cup is screwed and then the whole unit into the frame, because the screws do not fit through where the pad is attached.
I have final pictures of the restoration here.
That was the old state when I bought it.
What I changed was the headband, which my wife sewed for me.
I chose a textile suede in black.
I have to say that it is very pleasant, and a little padding again.
The stubborn KAbel replaces that of Via blue epc 2.
And new pads, of course, from Accesorry House with the Dekoni Attunion Rings.
Only later did I decide on the Lawton mod and the E-Mu Cups.
I no longer know which user sent me the email from the e-mu, many thanks to you
Sound:
I installed the cups without the foam that is included in the Lawton kit.
So the cups are bare on the inside.
And isolation is still good.
I can say the following about the sound: Pure without mods I had to say that in Denon the plastic cup was not badly coordinated.
The bass was very good and the mids. The highs were a bit untamed but not disturbing. Slight hiss and harshness could be heard.
After Lawton Mod that was gone and the bass gained contour and was better again.
The mids also sounded a little more closed.
After exchanging the rosewood cups.
The following happens.
The bass is a bit behind but not annoying, but it is much more precise on the point.
It can be soft, soft and hard.
And also pulls through from start to finish.
In the middle, this moves more forward at the expense of the bass, which is actually good.
I noticed with the plastic cups that the bass is too present.
And now not at all, the voices woman / man move more into the foreground and have much more body and strength.
What I wished for.
The highs donāt sound too hard or too sharp, which hurts the ear.
It was a little too much for me that I took the minimal back on the equalizer.
And pull through from front to back.
So very good.
Overall, it sounds much better in the separation. Left / right is much more noticeable.
Also more precise in every region.
Itās so easy to hear subbass, or a thunderstorm where you think youāre in the middle of it.
He has also become significantly less transparent in music.
I am very satisfied with the cups from E-mu, the workmanship and quality are very good for the price.
Establishing contact was time-consuming, sometimes taking days, but not bad.
Iām curious if he can get the Denon Ah D7200.
This is also a point where many former or D2000 users have said that the bass looks bloated.
Indeed, if you have both, otherwise you donāt notice.
Have fun and stay healthy.
And thanks to everyone who helped me.
Thatās the one complaint I had with the EMU cups. They ship with extra screws but they donāt fit where the cups screw onto the driver housing. I ended up grinding them down to fit but you can also reuse the screws that came with the X00
Hi,
what I think is the only reason why the screws of the E mu do not fit in, that it is wanted that you can see whether the cups are closing properly, so that you are forced to remove the driver.
It was okay, too, because that was the only way I could ensure that it was closed properly and that nothing bleed or let through.
The screws that belong to the Denon plastic cups are too long, so donāt use them in any case, shorten them alternatively, but only if you build back you wonāt have any.
I also considered whether I should grind you down, but didnāt want to mess up the optics in case I have to show it.
Otherwise the work was worth it and the investment. Would certainly do it again.
Iām thinking again about getting an old Denon and then putting zebra wood or Paulo santo on it with other cups. gehƶrt Iāve heard another 2-3 hours.
ufff really good good good.
Rock also does well with or during gaming.
