The DEALS thread

That really is a great deal. I paid more than that for the LP.
The only downside is that I hear this has the same high gain as the LP.

But for a nice DAC/amp, that is a great price.

I was looking at a couple different combos, getting away from the stacks. No need for the whole setup on my end. That was one I was looking at but was way to pricey. Got a used k9 which I was also looking at

If I didn’t own a WA7 I’d probably go for it. No sense in having two warm-ish amps, IMO.

The liquid gold x has an L-gain H-gain toggle. If I read correctly from other places

I read that, but then I also read that the low gain is still pretty high. I looked into it quite a bit When It first came out. I loved my LP, but a lot/most of my headphones are very efficient. I ended up selling the LP for that reason.

Low gain is 4 times the… Voltage I guess so +12dB, and high gain 6 times (+15.5dB). That’s pretty close to each other.

Normally you have like Medium gain 1x (2V in 2V out, +0 dB)
And low gain something around - 6dB (2V in 1V out).

Nothing for sensitive IEM’s…

Thx 789 for comparison
Gain: 0.66x , 2.0x, 6.6x (-4, +6, +16 dB),

I have been looking at that page for days. I want the Clear (preferably Pro) and the Radiance headphones. I REALLY need to sell some stuff.

ehhhh…i mean they’re pretty decent, but really kinda in your face bad timbre with certain music. really detailed and nice punch, meh soundstage, kinda weird mid-upper mid region that almost comes off almost nasally at times.

Pads are on sale for $79. Weren’t they originally $150? I guess I didn’t need to buy elex pads as a backup.
Focal Perforated Microfibre Clear Ear Pads (Pair) – headphones.com
They must have bought a huge stock of Clears from Focal after production ended to still have enough left for sales today.

They’ve been $99 for awhile and have occassionally dropped to $79 - at which time I bought.

You also are soft on Sundara and HD6__ series, correct? That would fit in. Your description is not wrong - though I don’t have timbre issues.

I like the 660s for some stuff lol

I think the OG clear and the radiance are really fun… imho clear is kindof like a more resolved, more detailed and bit brighter bit more extended elex… The radiance is a more punchy (more bass), fast and resolved closed back - doesnt have any of the overemphasis in highs that the elegia has

I think of the 4, the radiance is my favorite focal that I have heard, it plays up the aspects that I like most in focal, followed by the clear which has more openness, then elex, and elegia

I do agree they are kindof in your face, thats kindof a focal thing, not so subtle, but immersive and fun

How different do you find the 660s vs the 6xx? Also I am curious what your favorite headphones are?

I just think the 660 has a lot less of that Sennheiser Veil™ and far better imaging and placement and separation.

My dailies are HE6se v2 for gaming and most music I listen to, HE1000se for some stuff and “listening” to a piece of gear, Edition XS for casual listening and just sitting at my pc bulshitting with people in discord and not doing anything specific (mostly because they sound great and they’re super comfy with the pads I have on them now), GL2000 as my portable headphones with an xCAN (because they won’t distort like the rest of my planars on the xCAN for some reason and I can wear them around my neck like a boombox lol), Stellia for when I want to have some closed backs with some fun, 177x for laying in bed watching movies late at night without waking the house up and for gaming when I need to have a fan pointed at me and don’t want to hear it.

So this Liquid Gold. I can’t hardly find a review on it outside of Zeos. Can anyone else point to some more reviews of that thing?
