Yeah, unfortunately for the Denon’s they’re $800, double what I could pay for the used Fostex cans. Any pad recommendations for the Fostex Ebony?
I would search for fostex x00 threads on here to see what people are using, because when I had them I just kept them stock because I liked the sound the most lol
I see. Cool.
Personally I like the bass more on the Triple Driver, just more fun. But the Nighthawk Carbon probably is more natural.
Just in terms of quantity of bass was mainly what I was asking.
I would say the PH has more bass than the triple driver with a decent amp (and I think the carbons can slam with a powerful amp too)
Wow, they sound fun now.
Maybe a future possiblity when I am deeper in the rabbit hole…
You can try your luck with this one:
Thank you for the link! That’s cheaper than the Ebony that was linked before. I like all these options.
Lol, I’ve just been window shopping all the Fostex driver headphones.
Then you’re doing both of us a favor, haha. Build quality seems much better on the Denons anyways.
Yes, it’s a more durable headband that won’t break as easily as the older fostex (as some headbands were snapping for some reason)
This Denon lool so cool:
And Lawton mods will do Denons too. How do the Denon compare to the Fostex closed backs? do they have a equivalent to the Ebony?
The denon has a bit different tuning but similar drivers, I personally prefer the tuning on the fostex ebony vs the 5200 but it’s still solid. I think their current equivalent to the ebony would most likely be the 7200
Denon is a good company. thier amps are top notch. but their headphones seem overpriced
Their new pma600ne and pma800ne is just awesome for the price. Their headphones are worth it but they are just more expensive in the US I think
There competitive with fostex list prices, just not the mass drop versions, or what fostex actually list for.
you can fit them behind your upper ear, then they just rest on your ear lobe.
Maybe they got big ol sensitive ears tho
The Denon 7200 is at 600€ in germany
It’s about 800 USD here
PMA 600ne is 348 and the 800ne comes at 399€
very good starting point!
