if you can’t be with the one you love… love the one you’re with…

Well my experience with this whole thing is you check out the reviews and discuss this stuff on forums and you start to get an idea of rank. This amp/dac/heaphone is better than this other one. Then as the deals show up you snap them up. I know that the bottlehead crack (terrible name) is better than the dark voice. ive gotten that idea over time. But being an audiophile i dont mind having a lot of amps lol

so should i cancel my drop order and buy the crack? The only thing that gives me pause is i would have to build it. and i dont want it to sit around and i never get around to it cause im not sure of my soldering skills.

I wouldn’t say one thing is “better” than the other…I think it boils down to what is better for your use case scenario and what is better suited based on personal preferences. But seeking information from multiple sources is definitely something all should do before making a purchase, so I wholeheartedly agree with you there

Side-note…if you cancel your DarkVoice drop, I’m selling my DarkVoice 336 right now and can hook you up with a deal. It has been well cared for and is in like brand new condition. I did the fitz mod on it and it doesn’t hum at all with any tubes. I can throw in some NOS tubes as well. Just DM me if interested.

I know people are adverse to using the “better” word. But it cant be ignored that some headphones and gear are higher quality and fidelity than others. And the crack is that to the DV.

I agree. That’s why better suited is what I typically say…better suited for one’s wallet, at times, takes precedence, lol.

Also, the crack isnt like leaps and bounds better sound wise to the darkvoice. But it is without a doubt designed better and uses better parts. So reliability is something that is in play.

Also, there is an option to buy the Crack already assembled, but it is like an additional $200 in price.

So is the Liquid Carbon X for $200 worth picking us vs, say the Asgard 3? Cavelli Tube Hybrid vs Loxjie P20?

So it would depend, the LCX is going to be a more colored amp and the Asgard 3 is going to be more transparent. Also the LCX sucks unbalanced so I would only recommend the LCX if the majority of your headphones are balanced

I much prefer the CTH to the P20 imo if you have the budget

I personally can solder at a decent skill level, but I would rather spend a bit more for a higher tier tube amp. The difference in sound > the difference in price at that price range, IMO.

Mostly need something with a bit more oomph, over the SH-8 and Spark. I do have balanced cables for any cans that’d benefit from more power, and the Argons I ordered balanced, and am hoping will be arriving in the next few weeks. Also considering the RNHP for more transparent/natural, but know it isn’t balanced and doesn’t offer the same power.

I think if you have argon’s and balanced cables, the LCX might be for you, although I have heard of some QC issues

To me, it says a lot if you are already hesitating about the hassle. I think the kit was made for someone that is excited to do some DIY. If you call it a hassle, then I think no, it’s not worth the hassle. I’m sure you’d rather spend a little more to get something that is pre-built.

Not headphones, but good deal!

Drop: E-mu Teaks $350 **non-detachable cable

Hmmm non detach cables. That’s a pretty good price though lol

I’ve been waiting for these and got so excited… but then i saw that. Can’t do the attached cable. My 880s are currently on a trip having that issue resolved as we speak.

These Emu’s are such a good deal. Zeos described them as a cross between the Denon and Fostex TRX-00 headphones. I wish they would stay on sale for this price. so many people come looking for bassy closed back headphones on the cheap and i hear these are great:

I wonder if i should buy a pair

These Emus do look interesting. Have you heard them and can you compare them to the Cascades? Please and thank you. @M0N
