Absolutely is a love it or hate it headphone lol. Discontinued at that but they float about now and again with Carbon being my preferred since it has both sets of pads with it… very warm/dark sounding headphone
Works just fine for me, also the extra padding on the rear part lvls the driver instead of being in an angle
Looks really good! Ordered!
Hey Naturally, what cables are you using there? customs?
I can understand.
I got these off Aliexpress, nothing too fancy but they are extremely affordable, flexible and lightweight

strange… no 1/4 inch regular on there guess it’s one of those you use an adapter on. Looks nice though for the price.
Went ahead and placed that on order too… 3.5mm is out of stock but I have a good youkamoo adapter for anything 4.4mm… $15 for a nice cable is not bad when I needed a good replacement for some of my cans. Much appreciated
is the new FiiO k7 a good pair to get with this headphone?
Its way more than you need, its a fairly easy to drive headphone, particularly after you swap out the pads
i’m relatively new to audio stuff and heard from Z-reviews that it’s hard to drive. What do u recommend me getting on a budget no more than 150$
Na mate i think you misunderstood, the K7 has more than enough power for something like the Ghost, i dont recall Zeos saying that they were hard to drive, maybe a little harder than the 109 but that really not a lot of power.
I can even run them off a off a portable player (FIIO BTR 5), though if you really want it give it an extra power you can use an balanced 4.4mm cable like me ( https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001642424244.html )
another thing that helps is changing the pads. The pads it comes with have a too much padding on the driver, not only improves the sound but also makes them easy to drive

A HUGE thankyou for the angled hybrid pads tip!! Got the pads today, and they made this headphone just perfect! (for me anyway)
I think it tamed the highest treble just a tiny bit, but I can now hear even more details. And the sound is “bigger”. I usually EQ the subbass on my open backs, but no need here anymore. Thanks again!!!
EDIT: I was using stock pads with the inner foam removed before these pads.
EDIT2: Not sure about the treble, I think it might be the same. Just the rest of the sound that’s fuller.
EDIT3: A-B:d a few times. No, the vocal s’s were definitely sharper with the no foam stock pads than with these. I will stop editing now, lol.
NP, glad it help (also glad that the pad improvement is not just my imagination )
For sure, I will encourage the same as far as hybrids go… they are definitely the right direction for these to make them sound good. I will personally be selling mine off, keeping the Athena for sure… I have far too much appreciation for the 109s really lol though these are pretty solid as long as you swap the pads off… the stock are just horrible in comparison
Did a fun detail test with these hybrid pads. Compared it to stock HD 560s, and I’m hearing everything just as well in the Ghost, just without the 560s’s elevated treble. (Don’t really care for the 560s, the treble makes everything sound artificial IMHO. Needs to be EQ’s down a lot at 5 kHz to sound ok.)
What I listened to:
Tears for fears - “Famous last words”. There’s a lot going on in the background in the first minute.
Black Star - “Thieves in the night”. From 4 minutes there’s a conversation going on between Mos and Talib in the background.

I just got my Ghost today, based on your suggestions I ordered the Brainwavz angled pads and cut out my foam of the stock pads in the meantime. I couldn’t find much online in the way of EQ settings for the ghost, are there any presets you guys would recommend?
I actually actively avoid EQing personally, so i cant help there
Why is that?
a number of reasons, but a big one that is relevant in a case like this is consistency.
If i were to listen through one device and only use 1-2 headphones, then maybe that would be fine. But in my case I listen in multiple locations with different devices, using a fairly large variety of headphones - so making sure i would use the right eq every time, on every device and with every headphone would drive me nuts. That’s why i always prefer pad swapping or other fairly simple ways to moding a headphone, in this way after i pad swap/mod a headphone its done i just plug and play regardless of device/location/headphone.
Also it makes it easier to recommend to other people without having to worrying about eqs
I usually eq the sub bass on my open backs. About +5db at 30 Hz.
The hybrid pads are a little darker than the no foam stock pads.
Got a brighter SMSL stack and a darker Aune stack. On the Aune I add +1 db with high shelf at 2kHz.
It’s all personal taste, so YMMV.
