đŸ”¶ Tin P1 - Planar IEM

If it sounds like it’s coming out of your mattress and you wouldn’t describe them as detailed you definitely got a bad unit. The only criticism I can see some people having is a lack of bass if you’d generally prefer more. Even if you got a good unit, you still might not like them then.

Every listener has their own tastes, what might sound like end game for one might sound terrible to another.

At least a positive from this is that you know what you don’t like and can return them and pick up something with a different signature and characteristics.

Just received mine and have been listening to them for the last hour and I agree with what your saying. I prefer the Tin T2 ($30) over the P1 ($150).

I didn’t describe them as detailed I said just opposite, no details
 Lack of bass aside, just overall signature don’t suit me.

I said, “If
 you wouldn’t describe them as detailed
” which you don’t. I got what you were saying. My point was since you didn’t hear them as detailed you likely got a bad unit, but as I said and you have figured, even if you had gotten a good unit it’s probably just not your sound signature anyway.

I had a negative reaction to the Neumann NDH20s that Zeos reviewed and it helped me to realize that I wanted something way different than the sound signature it had. I wish you luck in finding something more to your liking.

Personally, I’m enjoying these. They’re good, but not amazing. They are my first IEMs, and since I got them from Drop, can’t really return them to try something else warmer. Definitely aren’t my endgame for IEMs.

I can agree with that. They are not endgame and lack bit of warmth for my taste.

One weird aspect - with these i can hear differences between cables really clearly. Stock/copper cables tend to be warmer, but with some songs bit muddy. Silver cables sound wider, but much more harsher.

If you want them warmer you might wanna check some copper cables from aliexpress, though the original cable is quite good tbh. Maybe the little tube amp - little bear b4x will add some warmth - i definetelly like them more with that, but its quite annoying to charge another device and carry it around :smiley:

In my case, nothing drove them satisfactory. I tried it with Ifi xdsd, Fiio btr3, and desktop SMSL AD18.
in all cases very hazy blurry sound just imagine putting a pillow on a small speaker. That’s exactly what I got. $5 Sony mh755 sounds million times better.
My goal is not to bash them, obviously people like them, it’s either my bad unit or I didn’t burned them in but I don’t believe 150 hrs of burn in would improve them so significantly.

You got a bad unit. You should hear, well
 the opposite.

For comparison, MH755 are really V-shaped , with no high treble at all.

Yes I know, I was just saying how $5 dinosaur sounds better than $150 plannar.
Well it doesn’t matter now, I’m on the hunt for next one :headphones::wink:

Loud Hailer is indeed a banging album :+1:

@Lothar_Wolf
Saw it, I was just planning to buy S8F
 Shit :hot_face::sweat_smile: I’m back to saving money

I compared the p1 to my hd600 switching back and forth on a couple songs and i find them very similar in tonality indeed. I have to use the foam tips though otherwise the p1 is a bit brighter in the upper treble. I powered them both with a magni 3 and dragonfly cobalt combo.

Hey guys, what would you choose between Tin P1 and NuForce HEM 8?

I wrote one of the pre-release reviews of the P1 and I can agree with some of your assessment. The P1 is definitely not something I really liked that much and isnt my sonic preferences in any way. It has a clear lack of upper mids which makes females and strings sound distant. The treble boost makes things a bit splashy and bright and harsh. The sound stage isnt very wide and while it has a ton of detail, it all comes at you in all directions all at once and very close to you making it sound very congested in intricate passages with many instruments.

That said, the P1 does do some things well, but I’d recommend other IEMs in this price range of it – many others to be honest. It’s a fun IEM to hear what is possible in the future, but it’s still got a bit more tuning and things to improve upon in the future.

I like the sound from the P1, I’ve only recently recieved it though so haven’t had enough time to really get familiar with it.

@antdroid, what other IEMs would you prefer in this price range?

Welcome to the forum @antdroid! There’s finally someone else here that has heard a Mobius!

Interruption over

I prefer moondrop kanas pro and kxxs, etymotics er2xr and se, bgvp dms, tfz no3, Samsung Galaxy buds and a few others. probably tin t2 as well. And the iSine 10 with cipher cable.

All are same or less in price.

Haha yeah it’s been a while since I’ve owned the mobius.

I would highly recommend eq’ing the tin p1. I have so far:

125hz= +4db @ 0.8q
4khz= +2db @ 2q
16khz= -4db @ 1.41q

Brings out some body/bass to the music.

Dragon Fly Black/Red/Cobalt.

You’ll need a usb adapter dongle but it’s a nice compact solution.

I personally have the Red. I sold my Fiio Q1 Mark II a year ago to buy the Red and haven’t looked back. WAY less bulky and and amazing Dac/Amp.

I kinda want to get the Cobalt now to see the difference. Downside to the RED and the BLACK are the USB connections they used being too long, so it doesn’t mate correctly with any dongles. It’s really only an issue if I have it in my pocket while running. The connection will pop with static every now and then. But in my motorcycle jacket it’s not moving so it’s a non-issue.

Note: you’ll need to install a firmware update on the Dragonfly or you’ll think it sounds muffled when you first use it.
