šŸ”¶ Tin P1 - Planar IEM

My P1ā€™s arrived a few days ago. Having experienced the difference burning in made to over ear planar headphones I own, I decided to do the same with the P1 after an initial listen before making any comments. As with my over the ear planars, after 30 or so hours of burning in, the bass cam out just a little bit more to a point where I am very happy with them. I donā€™t like over done bass which is what my other IEMā€™s did (Audiofly).

I did find the P1 too bright, but switching from the silicon tip to the foam tip fixed that perfectly. The sound is now exactly as I want. Good solid bass but not emphasised. Great detail but not too bright and very clear vocals.

And turning the volume up starts to get way too loud well before any distortion happens. At least I assume they eventually distort as I had no intention of going louder to find out! Iā€™m using a Fiio M6 and running the volume between 90-100 (out of 120) depending on the song works really well. I also tried my Topping DX3 Pro and that also sounding very good.

Another extremely happy customer.

Exactly my experience, had them for 3 weeks now and they are just sounding better and better to my ears. My other regular headphones arenā€™t getting a look in at the moment, the P1ā€™s driven by a desktop amp are just great.

I switched to Comply confort + 400 tips which has calmed the highs a tiny bit and added some base response, combined with some EQ for extra base and these things are just perfect to my ears.

1 day left on Drop, might order a pair. Just so I can get a better picture of what these are like, which 3 headphones are closest to the lows, mids, and highs of the P1?

Maybe it do. But where is it from / is it accurate? Because others have more drop in the bass region.

Hereā€™s another one from Crinacle:

You can probably easily fix earphones with -5dB sub-bass by just buying foam tips (from Dekoni/Comply, some say), they really seal the ear canal apparently.

P1 sounds much better with foam. Still loses to NiceHCK NK10 in my opinion.

The tips make a big difference with the P1s, there is a much better seal with comply / dekoni / other foam brand tips which allows the sound to really come through.

Iā€™d highly recommend trying out foam tips if you own these IEMs.

These fit perfectly on the P1 as well as iSINE10

Does anyone know if these can compete with hd600? Im mainly talking about vocals and detail retrieval. Im going back and forth on whether to wait for these or buy a used pair of 600ā€™s

Iā€™m going to say the 600 is better on the detail retrieval, but vocals do sound pretty interesting on the p1, but overall I think the 600 is going to be better in the detail regard and have a better timbre. But then again youā€™re comparing a planar iem with an open backed dynamic

I just read the meh review on Amazon by ZEOS. WTF happened? You were coming in your shorts (really) over these. These are not ā€œend allā€?
Well the bass is transmission line. Theyā€™re there in all their glory. Mid and high frequency are extremely good (planar good).
Price wise a damn good IEM.

What review are you talking about?

Huh? I literally just looked at the Amazon page and the first review is a 5/5 review from Zeos saying nothing but good things.

This review?

OK. So where to begin. I donā€™t really LIKE iems. I review them. I understand their purpose. I even have been known to enjoy using them. BUT these turned me into an IEM person. They shove so much detail and space into my brain that I canā€™t even understand what is happening. I have $50 IEMs and $2000 IEMs and each have a time and place but These have made me go back weeks after the review to remember how great they are.

I donā€™t even like to count them as IEMā€™s because then everything will lose. So now onto other things that are fair. Buy these if you want cheap endgame with Narrow soundstage but amazing AF everything else.

This is the only one I see on the Amazon pageā€¦ seems to slant slightly positiveā€¦ :stuck_out_tongue:

I am one of the many that had units that shocked them so I am sending mine back to China. Here comes another loooooong wait, 4 months for the Drop unit to arrive and I assume a month for it to ship to China and another month to ship back and no indication Tin Hifi has corrected their grounding problem.

Okay, I did see THAT review. Iā€™d call that anything but ā€œmeh,ā€ though. Itā€™s a glowing review.
He also said the same things in the original video.

EDIT @giova05, thought you were the guy who was appalled. But Iā€™ll leave the post anyway

My backorder for these on Amazon got an updated delivery date for Sunday, wee. Look forward to hearing these.

I just got mine today and so far canā€™t really complain about anything other than the crap ass cable. The material is pretty but it is jank-tastic and not worth even pretending to use. EDIT:(after letting the cable breath over night it does straighten out to the point of being usable, but it is still not great). Just get one of these.

On a positive note. The packaging was improved so they donā€™t fall out and roll around during shipping and the included case is a TANK. I bought the seemingly identical case they sell on Amazon and it is much lighter and less sturdy. Itā€™s still very nice but the P1 case seems indestructible. Iā€™ll give an impression on how they sound after Iā€™ve used them more and given them a chance to break in.

Just bought a pair to cover a ā€˜can you be quiet pleaseā€™ time at homeā€¦not too used to IEMā€™s, had a pair of Shure se530ā€™s way backā€¦letā€™s see how these bad boys measure up?

As advised by others and from my own experience, give them a good 30 hours break in and make sure you try swapping to the foam tips and back to work out which you prefer. Foam for me.
