šŸ”¶ Tin P1 - Planar IEM

Would love to get a balanced cable for them but iā€™m struggling to find a 3.5mm TRRS MMCX oneā€¦might try JT @ Oidio sound and see if he can knock one up for me?
Iā€™ll wait a week or so to see how I get on with them firstā€¦oh btw it was a toss up between the P1ā€™s and the KXXS lol.

Could anyone please let me know the diameter of the stem (4.5, 4.9 or 5.5 mm?) as iā€™d like to order some extra memory foam tips :beers:

This was my experience as well. P1ā€™s needed balanced cable, good power, and mucho volume. Enjoyed them until yesterday when the left began buzzing during bass heavy segments of musicā€¦ Cable and source are good so I think Iā€™ve got a bad pair :disappointed_relieved:

Recently bought the Ikko OH10 and love them!

Thanks again mate, they were the ones I was looking at but wasnā€™t sure of the size :+1:

Ordered them :smiley:ā€¦post must be 20 blah, blah

I got mine today. Pretty nice presentation with the packaging. Going to be listening to them balanced from the Mo thx 788 amp.

Initial impressions:

  • Comfortable! Putting them in with just the stock silicone tips out of the box, they actually feel very good. Much better than the T2. Did not realize these were the ā€œhearing aidā€ style with the cable wrapping around the earā€¦ Having them in place, i donā€™t feel any uncomfortable pressure on any part of my ear. Maybe I am lucky and have a good ear shape for them, though. Feel like I could wear them for a long time with a good amount of comfort.
  • Initial listening impressionsā€¦
They are DEFINITELY HARD TO DRIVE. Even balanced, out of the Monolith THX 788, I feel the need to crank the db fairly high to get a nice good listening level out of them. I feel like this really canā€™t be emphasized enoughā€¦ at lower volumes they can sound pretty ā€œanemicā€. I donā€™t think these would make a good portable headphone without a strong, dedicated portable amp.
  • Sound-wise Iā€™m liking them quite a bit.
Compared to everything else I own, these sound incredibly ā€œfastā€ with crazy amounts of separation between sounds Iā€™m just not used toā€¦ Frequency response sounds fairly balanced and well extended. Not too treble-ly to my ears at all. The detail seems to mainly come from how quick the decay occurs with any sound that comes through the driver. Itā€™s there, then itā€™s immediately gone. Iā€™ve seen some other reviews say they ā€œlackā€ bassā€¦ but Iā€™d argue the bass response is 100% there and very well extended. But the decay and response in any part of the sound spectrum is so fast that any low-end response wonā€™t seem as impactful and lasting. When I get a chance, I really want to try watching a movie or play a single-player game with them. I get the impression they would work very well. =)
Update: I think LCD2 C would still be my go-to for movie-watching, but these do pretty well overall.

Still waiting for mine :sleepy: ordered from drop and never cameā€¦now waiting from linsoul seems like months ā€¦everyone got but meā€¦

I ordered the prime shipped version. They ended up shipping in about a week from the order date, then delivered a day later.

Ordered mine via Amazon uk on Saturday, listening to them now :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

OK. So after a weekend of listening I can safely say I love them. The only thing they donā€™t do is sound stage (something I donā€™t really care about). The bass is actually very nice since it seems well extended and does itā€™s job very well, itā€™s just not a bass monster. The bass is still good enough to be satisfying for hip hop or electronic music, it can even give some good rumble or hums in some songs. The mids seem forward and things like vocals are well presented. These are very good for guitar heavy music like rock or metal. Nothing ever seems to get muddy or lost, even in very busy tracks like ā€œRip and Tearā€, by Mick Gordon. Sometimes it seems like there is sibilance but it isnā€™t painful or distorted, itā€™s just an issue with the recording. The same thing goes for the highs. Sharp but not painful unless the recording is bad, and even then itā€™s not all that bad. Overall great highs with a lot of detail without being too much. The cable is actually better than it first seems. Right out if the box it looks like trash but after a day or two it relaxes and is pretty nice (the cables I linked in my first post are still better). For $150-180 these are great. If you have a powerful amp (anything more than 300-400mW @32ohms seems like enough) you will not regret these. I personally use the xDuoo xd-05 (not the brand new pro version) or the little bear b4. I canā€™t really tell to much of a difference in a tube, maybe slightly less highs. I can only imagine how detailed these would be coming if of a THX AAA amp like the 789 or 887. I would recommend foam tips to get the best seel possible. Without a good seel there is no bass and the highs will be all you hear. Also donā€™t buy the new ikko tips for these since the tips will come off in your ears also they donā€™t insert far enough without a longer stem (good tips otherwise, quite comfortable).

Dammit I just bought some Tin Audio T2s back then and now I see this. I mean, I am having that feeling right now that I should have had waited back then instead of buying the T2s, I bought these instead. Oh well, I still love my T2s and I got a lot of things to buy other than a brand new M40xs that broke this month, and I just bought some MH751s lol. Tin P1s, sooner or later some time in my life, I will try and get you here regardless if it can be shipped here or just buy it here in my country if it is available.

Lolā€¦just listening to this on them right nowā€¦https://youtu.be/aiDNf8trWn8

Itā€™s tough for me to review an IEM as iā€™ve not had many so I can only really compare them to midfi open headphones.
Gonna listen to them for a few more days to give them time to burn in and me to ā€˜learnā€™ them, but two thingsā€¦

1 I wonā€™t use them otg so not tried them via a phone etc but the ifi Nano powers them fine with most recordings on 2/3 volume same as my 660sā€™s.
2 The Mrs is glad I purchased them lol and iā€™m enjoying what iā€™m hearing so far :+1:

and got these through today thanks to your recommendation mate :+1:

Damn theyā€™re a bit too wide for my ears :grimacing:

Ok my 2 pence worthā€¦an easy to listen to IEM once you drive itā€¦(an IEM that needs :muscle:? but hey ho)ā€¦IMHO itā€™s an engaging listen, it sucks you in with itā€™s well balanced sound delivery, sound stage to me is wide in my limited IEM sound stage experience, giving space and separation to instruments, bass is well represented planar style but not super extended but enjoyable none the less, but one gripe the bass seems to bleed into the mids, example Leonard Cohenā€™sā€¦ā€˜First we take Manhattanā€™ they struggle to fully separate Leonardā€™s vocals, bass and backing vocals. Mids are on point considering the price, giving vocals space with a warmish feel leading to an enjoyable presentation as opposed to a detailed studio sound. The highs are again easy to live with and never seem to push above a comfortable level.

So if you can drive them and are looking for a thoroughly enjoyable, warmish, engaging IEM then I canā€™t see you not liking theseā€¦If youā€™re looking for a detail, focused, image monster then iā€™m sure someone can recommend one.

Maybe a tough review?..they were up against two 2+x more expensive midfi open headphones but iā€™m still amazed at what these little guys can do :+1:

I want to know how they sound like though, the T2s are doing me a good service so far and they are my daily use every time I take a trip or go outside for a stroll.

So Iā€™ve listened to them a fair amount. Still like them a lot. Definitely keeping them. Donā€™t really have much to add over what has been said already, so here are some quick bullet point opinions. This is based on listening to them while working at my desk listening to music and occasionally playing some games with them, coming out of a balanced Monolith 788 amp.

  • Very transient sound quality! Details come through in a very unique way compared to my other headphones.

  • Sound signature seems fairly balanced. Nothing really stands out as far as bass or treble are concerned.

  • Very comfortable for an IEM! At least for me. I like using them with the silicone tips the most. I get a good seal with them. TIP: Pull your ear lobe with your other hand as you insert them into your ear canalā€¦ Itā€™s much easier to get a good fit and seal that way.

  • IMO, these are very much worth owning as a desktop headphone/IEM or if you have a good powered source for portable. T2 or other more efficient IEMs are likely much better for portable, general use.

I think these are definitely a keeper for me. Often I will buy a headphone then sell it or return it aside from my main stuffā€¦ but they are unique enough and good enough that I want to keep them in my collection.

Iā€™ve just won a set of P1ā€™s! But of course something free is going to cost me money. Can anyone recommend a budget portable dac/amp that works well with these?

Fii0 Qii high gain should work ok, with a balanced cable better still :+1:

Yeah a cheaper balanced cable will help for sure, the q1 mk2 balanced is more powerful
