đŸ”¶ Tin P1 - Planar IEM

With Tin P1’s you will be more than happy and satisfied, BUT if and only if you have a decent portable powerful dac/amp. Else don’t bother, because they’ll sound good anyway, but weak, as a hungry, thirsty and exhausted man . And last but not least, is to give them at least 150 hours of burn in. They improve impressively. I mean, put them in a closet playing all the time you don’t use them, which is necessary for all ear/headphones and cables. It’s not a brain issue, since they play in a drawer and not in your ears, but the improvement is there. I’ve seen it many times happening

Is the fiio Q1 mark II enough to drive these?

If you got a balanced cable, most likely yes. The q1 mk2 is a little power light on the single ended output though.

I just tested and could push both balanced and single ended to volume way beyond what I’d want.

I’m guessing a lot of phones could get the volume up, the real issue seems to be how much power these need to really come alive, and that’s where people are saying they become really hungry.

I still don’t have mine because Drop sucks balls, but so far all reviews insist that these sound dramatically different when you give them a lot of juice rather than just enough to get them loud. I’m interested in testing that out when I get mine.

I’ve used mine with Shanling M0, FiiO BTR3, FiiO Q1Mk2, FiiO M11 and Little Bear B4-X. I very much prefer the B4-X combination. More power seem to bring out the “oomph,” if you will. I can’t swear that you need a discrete amp, but to my ears it really does sound very, very nice.

I just tested it too and could push only the balanced output to a satisfying volume level, not the single one, but yet nothing impressive.

The reviews are sooo right
It’s not so much that they get louder, but that the sound gets in a way more and more bigger, more volumious and as a result a little louder.

I totally agree from what I can hear, using ifi micro xdsd. It makes P1’s really shine, and although I love the sound of my slightly modified Fiio FH5’s, I really can hardly stop using them.

Ooohh
What’s a “modified Fiio FH5’s” mean? Do tell. How did you mod them?

I just got the P1s from Drop today, listening to them through my iPad -> ES100s. The ES100 powers them perfectly fine unbalanced for anyone still wondering if they pair well. When I get home tomorrow I’ll try them through my D50->Atom desktop setup. I really REALLY want to hear what the Made in Abyss soundtrack sounds like with these. First impressions are they sound pretty neutral to me, I don’t think I hear a lack of bass, and that detail man, damn, these are good.

Oooohhhhh
I’ll think about it and if you’re a good kid, I might tell you

I can’t stand IEMs yet this P1 has me intrigued. Does anyone know if there is an over the ear or other style headphone that shares the P1 sound signature?

The P1 is different
It really isn’t your average IEM
It’s hard to explain but the sound is BIG. Not in a soundstage kind of way, but in a way where there have been multiple times to where I’ve forgotten that I’ve had IEMs on and not Over the Ear Cans

Slightly, the Fostex t50rp, but modified.I owned them, but sold them because the low frequencies were not so present. And I’m expecting Thieaudio Phantom, also planar magnetic, but they’ll start sending them on September, so we’ll have to wait and see!

Ahhh
well. Being a good kid was never my forte but for the sake of all the other good kids out there perhaps you could share???

I got mine yesterday. Jeeeesus these are amazing. Nothing else in my collection has this much detail, and yet their signature isn’t so analytical that it takes the fun out of music listening. These little things are magic. IEM endgame achieved.

Yes they need some juice, and if you like low end you’ll have to EQ them. Neither of these factors are an issue for me but they’re worth noting.

NO !!! Because it wasn’t my forte too
But before that your ironic manner made me lose completely my interest for the topic. If you were talking seriously I’d love to share anything I know or done, regarding sound and music, because my love for them is the reason I joined this forum and maybe a deeper urge to belong to community, where common feelings and ideas are shared. And this is true for all of us, whether we admit it or not. Irony or disrespect or ignorance or any other negative behavior is poisoning the “community” feeling. And I’m talking honestly now, not to offend you or whatever
 Peace! :v::eyes:

Dude
NO idea what your damage is. It was a legit question and completely devoid of negativity or disrespect. I just wanted to know how you modified your FH5’s. Grow up.

Oh god, am I the only one who doesn’t like P1? Literally every review I saw or read is praising them as next level shit. Seriously guys I’m happy for all of you if you found something you truly enjoy that’s great more money for something else.
I just cannot share the opinion. P1 must be the worst sounding music reproducing things ever made. I drove them of the Ifi xdsd and EQ them quite severely and still they sound tiny, no bass, no clarity, no details just this sound like it’s coming out of the mattress. Maybe I got unlucky and got a bad unit, I don’t know. But like I said if majority of users like them thats good maybe I’ll find something I like too.
