đŸ”¶ Tin P1 - Planar IEM

I’ve personally come to the conclusion that iems won’t ever be able to reproduce the same quality or quantity of bass that a headphone can. Sure they can tune the frequency response to add more bass but it just isn’t the same in my experience. With that in mind iems, especially the P1s, are stellar when the main focus is put on the treble response. The bass never sounds bad whatsoever with the P1s, but it seems like only being able to move so much sir with a tiny driver keeps a lot of iems from competing with the bass response of even neutrally tuned headphones. The P1s are not an all rounder, but that keeps them from being a master of none which makes them interesting/fun

^^^ x 2, the bass is rolled off put punchy with a quick decay :+1:

This happens even with the Andros upper mid/treble?

circa @1:37 there’s a tap tap sound that has more space on my modded Phantoms than my andro’s pretty the same on the P1’s too.

The P1’s are a classic for sure imho.

Hello, I have some questions that will probably sound moronic, but I gotta ask?

Is the P1 a good example of ‘planar’ sound/ability even though it’s an iem?

I mainly listen to starfield atm when on the go, with a little kz 10 pro on the side (little harsh 10 pro btw) and I have a desktop stack incoming (topping d50s, A50) which should be enough power for the p1?

Or do I skip the P1 and wait for incoming p2 , do we have a date for release or just ‘soon’?

I’d say no if you’re looking for a classic ‘Planar’ headphone related sound
I love my P1’s (keepers) They’re fast, detailed and energetic they need to be driven
something like Burr Brown chip Dac/amp helps to warm them a tad
A great set none the less :+1:

As for the P2 who knows?.. @hawaiibadboy ???

I would wait for the P2 just to see. It’s not like the P1 is going anywhere.

The P1 is great at showing off the speed of planars. They aren’t known for their thumping bass which bigger planars can pull off though. I’d probs wait and see what the P2 might be or pick up the P1 on sale or cheap used.

If Tin can pull off a P2 with the “traditional” HP Planar bass Response without resorting to a DD at a similar price point then hands up :raised_hands: to them.

The P2 is interesting just because the P1 is so great, but I have zero expectations. These Chi-fi companies seem to be falling victim to the IEM verson of the “sophomore album curse,” where the followup to the big debut falls way short of the original. My hope is that they somehow get it to be easier to drive, because I think plenty of people ran into issues because of that and didn’t fully realize it.

If you EQ it up (P1 reponds really well to the oratory EQ) and use a good source, you can get a really solid amount of bass.

All I found was needed for good bass was to seal the front vent. Acording to crinical’s graphs and my experience this eliminates the bass role off. If you want more B A S S you can try EQ after that.

Pulled trigger on p1’s with some balanced cable.
My new topping d50s,A50 convinced me to buy, buy, buy!!!

Update;
Go figure, I instigate a refund which is approved.
Then go to buy another set within an hour and the price has gone up £40 to £183
not paying that. Guess I’m not gonna be in the P1 massive after all.
Fate telling me not to invest.

Just got a set last week and I am completely blown away. Using the supplied foam tips and a topping DX3 pro I cannot grasp how some people call these bass light. The tape mod also helps flatten out the sub bass. Really full, powerful and crystal clear sound. The separation and detail is the best I have heard in anything ever. The speed and impact of the bass also make them very entertaining with some pop artist such as The Weekend and Billie Eilish, but they sound stunning with acoustic and orchestral music such as movie soundtracks. I have yet to find a song these dont play back exceptionally well. The tonal balance is spot on IMO and voices, instrumens, bass lines and cymbal crashes are all presented in a very pleasant way. Never felt sharp or even bright to me despite the incredible detail, and I can be a bit sensative to treble. Beats my FH5 in almost every way except width and bass quantity (for better or worse). I now only use the FH5 when out and about since I dont carry a DAP or amplifier with me at all time. I actally find myself reaching for the P1 at least as often as my verum 1, and those are great sounding, big planar headphones.
At the price, these are an absolute steal if you can power them right. Sound decent from my phone but they are in a completely different league when given proper power. These have made me want to relisten to a lot of my music and I keep hearing new things that I never noticed before.

Edit: fixed some typos
