đŸ”¶ Tin P1 - Planar IEM

I just received my Tin P1’s yesterday from Linsoul. I got them with an upgraded cable - Tripowin C8.

I must say, it took a few tips to get a good fit

First I tried the largest silicon tips, they fit OK but the seal wasn’t there - nor was the bass. They’re short tips so if I pulled them forward they sounded good but I don’t want the tips to come off in my ear.

Second, I tried the largest foam tips and they sounded much better but the seal just wasn’t perfect - if I pushed the P1s in they sounded great but relaxed they were still sounding a little lacking

Last, I put on the 2nd largest set of silicon tips
They were only 13mm wide as opposed to the 15mm large ones but they were longer (11mm vs 8mm). They fit great - relaxed I get the same sound with them as I do the foams pressed in.

So
maybe I’m lucky
I usually get a good fit with silicons that come packed with the earphones
and maybe it’s me but I prefer silicon because they last a lot longer than foams
I will be buying some Spinfit C145’s which are better than what came packed in and with the spinfits being the same size as these tips I’m sure the sound will still be there!

My thoughts
I love these - they sound great.

I got these mainly because I LOVE my Audeze iSine 20’s and I wanted a pair of planar’s that I could lie in bed with
While I still prefer the iSine 20’s, these come very close - and at $150 that’s surprising! If these were out when I bought the iSine’s I may have saved myself ~$500 or so. :hushed:

I think my iSine 20’s have more bass and I think the treble is somewhat smoother but for the price these P1’s are amazing! I won’t be missing my iSine’s so much now when I’m lying in bed listening to some music

I also find it strange that I think my phone drives these well enough
maybe I just don’t listen to my music as loud as reviewers
I may still want to get a Fiio BTR3K or BTR5 to drive these a bit better but for now I’m happy.

I do have an old Fiio E07K so I know how they are with a DAC that can boost the low end a bit
Also, because the E07K has two 3.5mm outputs, I had a P1 in my left ear and iSine 20 in my right so I could really tell the differences easier than going back and forth between pairs
the P1’s come so damn close and I’m astonished.

Cool I love my p1’s too and welcome to HFGF
Getting a good fit with the P1’s is paramount even more so than with some other sets, I use spins too which work best for me, switching the iFi Xbass boost on on my Micro is the icing on the cake when it comes to this set imho
Enjoy :+1:

Enjoy your P1’s, I know I do.

On tips I’ve used large Spinfit 145 and there were good/great but couple of weeks ago I decided try out AZLA SednaEarfit XELASTEC. The seal you get is weirdly very strong and grippy which pushes the base response up a level. They get my recommendation over the Spinfits now.

The bass from the P1’s will come out more with use. I burned mine in over 2 days straight and after that found the bass much more pronounced.

I looked these tips up - I would have to order them from Linsoul because the price at Amazon.ca are stupidly expensive!

I may have to give them a try, thanks for the tip
no pun intended.

Just scored a set of these for $70. They are very, very comfortable with foam tips. These completely disappear when you wear them, which I can’t say about the FH3 and definitely not the Starfield I tried before.

Out of the box they’re pretty meh for chi-fi, with that typical weird voicing. However I bought them exclusively for desktop use for times where I don’t feel like using over the ears or need more sound isolation, so I always planned for them to paired with a PowerDAC, which I just got today. Wow just about covers how they sound. $70 well spent. Very impressive. Without the PowerDAC I could only listen to female vocals on them, as males just sounded off. With the plugin they just about sound perfect with most genres.

Not a fan of having to use my phone to control the volume, though, but I’ll live with it at -27.5 and lower it in software whenever possible. I mostly listen to Youtube and Spotify anyway.

I won’t even mess with the EQ until I get a few more days of listening, plus I’m just not that great (or interested) in fiddling with EQs.

Haven’t dug these out in a while. Test driving my new Topping L30/E30 stack. Oh my
I get the whole needing a lot of power thing now!!! It’s as if the sound has filled out. +9db on, volume 11 o clock :ok_hand:

New lease of life into these for sure.

Oh yes, I totally agree with you!

These ifi DAC / Amp’s are perfect for the P1, which I actually wanted to sell again because I wasn’t convinced of its quality.

The iDSD signature has worked wonders in my entire in-ear portfolio.

The P1 in normal mode, Bit Perfect filter, iE match off, xBass on and 3D on, plugged into the 4.4 mm connector;
Absolutely fantastic!!

But that’s iDSD is also great with a CA Andromeda in ECO mode, Bit Perfect filter, iE match Ultra sensitivity, xBass off, 3D on plugged into the normal connection;
Pure enjoyment!!

Is it a good deal?

Not really. I see them around that price pretty often. If you want them now it’s fine. If you can wait you might find a better price and If you don’t this kind of price will not be hard to find again.

I’ve seen the price go down to around $ 98.99 during black Friday or any similar sale days, but if you can’t wait until the next discount come, then that price is fine.

They hit 69 this black friday for used open box. sadly sold out before i could get a pair. https://www.headconcert.com/product-page/tin-hifi-p1

Hi,
i am just wondering

How power hungry are these?
I just bought Ibasso DC03 with 80mW @32Ohms (plenty enough for 1more tridents).
Do you think it would be fine to run these?

Welcome.

Nope lol. It needs like 400 mw minimum
 power greedy iems.

Yep I run mine at almost at 950 mW @ 32 Ohm on my iFi Micro ie normal power mode.

They certainly like to have more juice than normal. (they are actually more power hungry than the headphones I have lol.)

Thats actually why i was even asking, because their web site states, that maximum power would be 10mW at 20 Ohms

XD

lol, wonder if they have even tried listening to it with only 10mw

im not an expert, but i would guess it has something to do with output impedance of the source

since planar headphones are also picky that way
