šŸ”· Topping E30

Hi,
I donā€™t think it is possible, if so then it was soldered on.
Most of the time it is only possible on Dac / amps. If a socket is also available. You could re-solder it if it is feasible if you are firmly soldered. Also a socket whether the effort is necessary is questionable. With my Cambridge Audio Dac magic is not an op amp, and on the Matrix Audio mini ipro2s there is one soldered in. The Dx 3 pro and I saw in the picture also soldered but accessible. For some you canā€™t really get it to solder it .

Edit: This is the E30 according to the picture, if that is you see that it is soldered firmly, it would be feasible to re-solder it.
It is on the left side up.

I just realized the joke. ā€œAll out of bubblegumā€ in the thumbnail is from Duke Nukem.

ā€œIā€™m here to kick ass and chew bubblegumā€¦ and Iā€™m all out of bubblegum.ā€
(Oh, itā€™s taken from a 1988 zombie movie)

Iā€™ll let you know if I can hear a difference after Iā€™ve had a bit of time to test.

Hi! I should be getting mine in soon. I was wondering if I should worry about powering it at all. Would there be a difference between a USB charger brick thingy vs USB port on my PC? If I were to use a USB brick, what specs should I follow? Thanks in advance

You can just plug both the power and data into the same pc no issues. If you want to use an external power supply, a modern smartphone charger does the job nicely. You want something that is most likely around 1a and can output 5v dc

So I can go either way. Do you know if thereā€™s any difference between the two in terms of sound?

Itā€™s imo slightly better sounding running off a separate supply than your pc, less noise, a bit more power behind it, and lower potential for ground loops, but that being said it was fairly minimal difference wise. I have also come to realize that my pc has poor quality usb power lol, so the difference might not be noticeable if your pc has a bit better quality power output

Understood. I think I might go with a separate power supply just to be on the safe side. So really, anything 1a and 5v DC will do?

Yeah pretty much, phone chargers work nicely imo. If you are really anal about it getting a linear power supply would be something you can do but I would really recommend against this lol. I tested a higher end power supply with the e30 and it wasnā€™t a noticeable improvement over the phone charger imo, just separating it from the computer usb power gave a bit more (and I have alot of usb devices plugged in there). Also if you had a separately powered usb hub, that would most likely also be equivalent to using a phone charger

awesome. I appreciate all the help. Thank you.

Iā€™m using an old Apple charging brick. Seems to work fine. FYI.

Yeah, gonna cancel my Aune X8 order since it still hasnā€™t shipped. Iā€™m not unhappy with the E30 at allā€¦ also it has clearance under my monitor riser while stacked on my RebelAmp, which the X8 doesnā€™t.

Hi All,

I made a sound demo comparison between the Topping E30 and Schiit Modi Multibit here:

Just curious, what mics and preamp/interface did you use?

Good work from Topping it gives more Details,go depper, play brillianter, more definition as the Modi i find.

Are you the owner or just work there?

nothing special just a USB stereo/binaural mic and an iphone. it was just for fun / out of boredom, but IMO it does capture the relative differences between the 2 when listened via neutral headphones.

I am just now sitting down to A/B the E30/D30. Testing them with the Sundaras and DT880 Pro (600ohm) through the Asgard 3. I can tell you with 100% certainly that I would not be able to pick them out in a blind test.

Iā€™m streaming Amazon HD with both DACs set to 24bit 192k (Amazon HD max streaming quality).

I do think the E30 looks nicer on the A3, so I guess thatā€™s somethingā€¦

@MrAyrit Do let us know. Iā€™ve been thinking e30 as well.
