What is ā€˜GOD TIER’ sound stage?

Perhaps I should say; what headphones supposedly have ā€˜God Tier’ sound stage?
I’d like to do a direct comparison between the two.

As far as sound stage is concerned these are wide, at least to my ears, and do extend beyond the drivers. If you were expecting these things to give you a sound stage 5’ out then yeah they don’t do that, it’s more like 5 inches. It also depends on what you’re listening to and how it was mastered.

Sheesh, take it easy man.

We’re all here because we like audio. Not everyone is going to agree on things, some people are going to think something is amazing, others will think it’s crap, and still others will just be like Meh.

You also have to realize that this is the internet, which means you’re going to have a collective of people from all over the world on this forum. There are certain cultural aspects that are going to naturally clash with one another. Phatic expressions are a good example of this as you could say something simple like ā€˜Good morning’ to someone and they might look at you like you’re crazy because there is a hail storm currently pelting them.

He’s someone that believes his own opinions are confirmations of themselves. It’s literally the same thing a child does. Why shouldn’t I call him out on it, because it’s rude? Sorry, I just can’t respect people opinions when they are unable to rationalise them (beyond opinions that justify themselves like loving your parents). Sure this is a very inconsequential example of it, but it’s still not practise any grown adult should be following (self rationalization is what has led to most of the irrational shit in this world). You may not be able to have a wrong opinion (the topic of what are opinions and what are statements is something else all together), but you certainly can have a bad one, and if you are unable to justify it, chances are it is.

Also, I genuinely wanted to see these bad reviews. I wasn’t trying to resentful, even if it might of looked that way.

Art! :heart::heartbeat::two_hearts::sparkling_heart::heartpulse::green_heart::yellow_heart::purple_heart::orange_heart: ( I don’t like the character limit)

I’ve been burned a couple times by the reviewer soundstage hype.

It’s also pretty hard to describe soundstage, and also discern what they mean by soundstage (width, spacial accuracy, range of soundstage, etc.)

Exactly. In fact, seemingly the only headphone that is universally regarded to have wide soundstage is the hd800. Even the he1000 and he1000se are said to have only ā€˜adequate’ soundstage by some, which completely baffles me.

These are really good. The only issue is the cable is just ok if you want them just as headphones. For gaming the cable with the mic is fine.

What they do very, very well is instrument separation. Best in their price range.

I think they have average soundstage. I don’t think this is a bad thing, but it’s not super wide nor narrow-- just average.

Probably X2 or 800s. Zeos’s review made me expect a super wide experience, but it’s about average, which is fine. I really like these.

Hoping that Zeos gets his pair soon and does a rereview. I’m fine with not having a huge sound stage if positional audio is on point. Also hoping that the pads are the same. Based on photos it looks like Vokyl did a bait and switch.

Yeah the pads do look like a bait and switch. They are roughly 1/2" but feel like 1/4"…i know that make no sense, but they seem to compress extremely easily and it’s not memory foam. Perhaps if they used a slightly denser foam that would have solved the issue.

That being said the pads aren’t bad, the issue is the clamp force. I know originally people were complaining that these were designed for a child’s head but now it appears as though they were designed for Adre the Giant’s head.

I have yet to adjust the clamp force, instead I threw on Ori pads and those ALMOST fixed the issue. Eventually I do plan on tweaking these, but first I want to have my buddy try these out. He’s got a HUGE head :stuck_out_tongue: …ehhhh I’m talking about the one with the eyes, nose, ears, and mouth, not the other one…sickos.

Zeos just said on his rmaf video that the sound and fit of the vokyls are ā€œspot onā€. I think we have to come to terms with this being another moment like when he said the LCD-X or fiio fh5 was ā€œwide soundingā€, yet no one else thinks that. Or the x2’s for that matter, dms saying the soundstage was merely average (though that might of just been because he didn’t want to take the extra time to determine that).

Pads aren’t the same. Still, they aren’t bad. I use the fenestrated pads because the solid pads make the Erupts all bass-- way, way too much bass!

Just thought I’d chip in about the whole cable sitiuations, mine hasn’t shipped yet, and I contacted them to see if they can use a standard 2 pole mono, and they agreed.

Shipping for it will be delayed, and of course would not be able to use the included cables/mic, which is not an issue for me as I have other cables laying around.

So if yours hasn’t shipped yet, send them an email with your contributed number, they are quite quick to respond and very understanding.

I’ll probably end up putting a pair of brainwavz velour on them since they don’t seem super think anymore.

wait, so they’re going to custom make your headphones with a 2 pole mono connection?

So the rest of us who did get ours with the crap ass CTIA connectors are screwed?

Sigh.

As far as I recall they never promised a specific pinout for the cups. It’s cool that they are willing to do custom ones, and that is probably a bad decision.

As long as the headphones work fine with the provided cables I don’t see reasons to complain. Of course I would have preferred a standard pinout but I see why they chose that crazy one.
