i now have 250 dollars which i will spend 160 on 58X’s… but i kinda wanna wait until i have even more money because i like my M50s and dunno if i need 58X’s when i can get stuff like a headphone amp like the magni heresy and maybe a DAC or a new cartridge for my turntable
The 58X’s really a nice little all rounder for a good price.
but what if i get some cards in the mail and i get more money for a DAC (if i hear a difference) or a magni heresy or even new records and stuff
Life is full of tough choices.
Spend your bucks on the best cans you can afford!!!
yeah true but i also wonder about source related stuff too… maybe i might get a dragonfly or an ifi nano or a new cartridge because those might mean a better sound
(i dont care about features beyond maybe MQA support and up to 96K support)
To an extent, aren’t less efficient headphones typically less amp dependent?
Really depends on the headphones, but for lower end yeah I guess so, but I would really take it on a headphone by headphone basis
58X sounds good with everything. Worry about the amp later, THEN worry about the DAC.
HE1000V2 come tomorrow!
curious on your thoughts!
When I was a kid, I had a .5m toy of Mazinger Z that shot little missiles. It was awesome.
I beg to differ I had a laptop that had a 3.5 mm “designed by beats”
I think there are going to sound fantastic on the Luminare.
I have one a bit smaller stored somewhere lol.
My Focal Elegia arrived last night. I spent 2 hours listening to them, then let them burn in playing music for 6 hours overnight. Listening to them again this morning while working from home and they are just amazing.
These do not sound like closed-back headphones. It is the oddest thing to me, but they really sound airy and open. The bass is just enough (proper seal is key). The mids are great and the tiniest bit forward. The treble is in between neutral and brightish.
I am treble sensitive at times…so when I say I enjoy the treble, it is surprising to me that I can even say that about a pair of headphones. These are just delightful. If anybody has struggled to find a nice pair of closed-back cans to compliment their collection, these get my highest recommendation.
Including the cable?
That cable is awful. Not as had as the Hifiman HE500 cable I had back in the day…but pretty damn bad, lol.
Picked up a chord Hugo 2 as I have always liked them, but never owned one lol, replacing some of my cheaper portables
