What did you buy today? (Part 1)

Oddly enough best speakers I’ve heard on a laptop. Just the output was absolute garbage. My current laptop has its audio designed by harman. But the speakers are garbage and the 3.5 mm is pretty serviceable above average PC audio and is pretty clean. Just lacks dynamics

How do the 530s compare to the 580s. They are the same price right now… both $300. (Oh nvm… that is price for 1 speaker, not a pair.)

i’m about to buy the 58X but im overthinking everything again and cant stop thinking “what will i do i dont hate my old headphones so what do i do will i really hear more with these”

The 58x will be a noticeable improvement over your M50s, but with that being said, it is very rare to be happy with what you have. Your hesitation speaks a lot. You love what you love and the rabbit hole can get very deep if you keep on seeking for improvements.

Just purchased a Rythmik F12 second hand for $600. Pretty hyped except for the fact that I drive a tiny two door car.

Got my replacement RE2000 after sending my initial pair back for a bad left driver, and my replacement has a bad right driver. I don’t think Hifiman wants me to buy their products

haha thats the fun part

i am not satisfied and dont know why and think that getting new headphones will make music sound so much better… hell im nervous that the 58X wont even work with my laptop because it seems like it requires an amp and i dont have one and everything seems like the grass is greener yet i dont even hear any differences in sound quality with most things… my wireless 70 dollar earbuds sound just as good as my M50s which sounds almost the same as 20 dollars earbuds

hello quarter life crisis why did i just turn 21

Well if you’re not satisfied then yes, 58x will sound better (if you like that signature).
They will also work fine on your laptop. They sound better on amps, but it’s not like they won’t even power up.
Lastly, 58x are popular enough that you can easily resell them if you don’t like them.

what do you mean if i like that signature… i like the signature i got on my M50s (they sound punchy on bass and good on mids which i really like)… i dunno what else will click with it and im just stressed because of a lack of money to get an amp or a DAC or anything else

When you get your HD58x you will listen for a while with a serious face and after a little bit you will go to the closet, will take the shotgun and shoot the m50s to pieces…

No need to worry about that… 58x works perfectly fine off my phone so I’m sure your laptop will be sufficient… they’re very nice headphones

You sound like me trying to pick an amp.
I already have six amps and I have been stressing about another amp purchase for a week. :open_mouth:

Some people just can’t relax. :grinning:

They are a very nice all round headphone, are pretty cheap (I bought mine used) and have great resale. You really can’t lose much at all. I suspect you will be quite happy with these for the several months at least.

the stresser is i only have 200 dollars and multiple other things i wanna buy (a DAC, a schiit magni heresy, IEMs, a case for said IEMs, maybe mod my M50s, a micro SD card for hires songs on my phone, a ton of records)

I would ignore amps and dacs for now. They won’t make your m50s sound any better and the HD58X are going to be a much more noticeable difference. I would say they are better but everyone is different. If you do get them just give them a good chance. By that I mean ONLY listen to them for a whole week. Then go back to your m50s and see how you feel.

personally I have had great experience both buying and selling on avexchange, usually just checking users post history. most people are NA or EU so depends on your region.

I buy used from Canuck Audio Mart online.
I buy from Kijiji (Canada’s Craigs List) in person locally.

But if “cooties” worries you, then maybe it’s not an option for you.

I just checked it and found a pair of HD6XX’s for $140.00, shipped, out of Texas. Pretty affordable.
