I’m enjoying them so far. Build is your typical Sennheiser quality plastic fantastic but robust enough for them to last me for the foreseeable future. They’re super comfortable thanks to the massive pads and light weight for a headphone of this size. When it comes to sound I find them to be very neutral and true to recordings. It’s probably one of the most detailed pair of headphones that I currently own. If your recording is bad you’ll definitely know. Its not a bass monster by any means but has enough to satisfy my tastes. If I had to boil it all down they’re the best at highs, mids, clarity, and soundstage. I ended up selling my Stax L300 bundle in order to purchase the HD800 but I have no regrets about that decision.

Got the accessory house pads for the fostex today. And added the attenuation rings. Sounds good to me and much more comfortable.

I think it keeps a pretty close stock sound. Maybe tad bit more stage. Haven’t had too much time with them.

Came yesterday… Had the 75s for awhile and wanted to try these. Better than the 30i imo and a little more fun than the 75s. Still really like the 75s and can throw them on the pro headband if needed. I like the headband and folding option. Not sure why I never purchased them til now…

Those are sweet headphones, @Rhodey!

Fun, warm, and non-fatiguing. Good times.

Gosh, when I see one of this I can’t but remember when I was a kid. We would have this kind of earphones with our tape walkmans.

Yeah I had a Walkman lol. So cool thinking about flipping tapes and making your own tapes. Good times haha

Did the quantity or quality of the bass change? Did you also do the tune-up?

They definitely isolate better now, same leakage tho. Haven’t spent much time with them since adding the pads. Initial thoughts were they’re probably same just more comfortable. And it’s hard to A/B when you have to switch pads. It’s not the fastest process lol. The bass doesn’t seem worse and it doesn’t seem to have any more. So if anything the stage is a little bigger with the same quality bass if not better, but not more. Sorry if that’s not the best info haha

Now I didn’t try them without the attenuation ring so that probably does harm to the sound. I’d say you probably need the ring or do Lawton tune up. I’ll probably do the tune up down the road.

OK, in that case let me ask this: Would you do it all again?
Not much change in your bass or isolation so would you spend that money again , knowing what you know now?

Yeah, much more comfortable and I like the slight increased soundstage. My ears don’t touch the pads now and that’s a plus. The accessory house pads aren’t too expensive and the rings aren’t bad either.

Pads are $35 and the rings are $15.
