What did you buy today? (Part 1)

the only difficult part is the lack of the dredded MQA

i might just still buy the zendac… the only other thing i might do i buy a USB conditioner (jitterbug or ifi isilencer/idefender)

I use Tidal, I’m well past the MQA thing, i wasted too much money trying to appreciate that and never really did. There’s just not enough value in it for me. Good luck whatever you decide. Happy listening.

i guess i am tempted by the fact that MQA is such a big feature now and its hard not to think “yeah this would be perfect and i need it” or whatever

i can probably just get a BTR5 and a usb conditioner and stop overreacting for features (though if those can drive sundaras fuck if i know)

My .02 is if you want mqa AND you’re using balanced get the hip… if you’re going single ended get the xduoo xd05 and forget about mqa… I personally wouldn’t let mqa dictate your purchases… if it happens to work out the great… if not dont sweat it.

There are some amaaaaaazing dacs that don’t decode MQA. IMO it’s not necessary, but if you’re really interested in it go for it.

hmm not too sure definitely not an expert with the amp/dac combos. The hipdac could work, maybe a fiio k5 pro, although you’d need to find a used one i believe it would still be within budget

of course will have to listen to both more, but on the first listen I think i prefer the analytical pads. On paper I’d thought I’d like balanced better, but it’s not like they’re lacking for bass and the detail is :ok_hand:

Lets gooo, analytical pads ftw

Adidas Ultra Boost´s Star Wars Edition arrived today
saved 93€ - payed 86 instead of 179 Euro

my other 4 pairs of Ultra Boost´s were all full price, so the shitstorm(for not paying rent) for Adidas helped me a bit, this time

FYI: Adidas did say, they will pay back rents later for the private owners - so …

and I ordered the Drop version of the KSC 75, because I only have the silver standard colour

I think I want me some DT1990 Pros for home, pity Amazon aren’t shipping them until end April

I’m really enjoying mine especially after changing pads. I really didn’t think the 1990s would appeal to me, but after trying the 880s I became interested in them and I’d say beyers are 2/2 for me. I’d actually suggest trying to score a used 1990 as they regularly go for around and under 400 usd

I’ve purchased two things recently from .ca and the delivery has moved significantly earlier than advertised

I got a fancy new holder for some spare Campfire eartips:

Purchased a while ago and sent to ASR for review; I just got it back from Amir a little while ago and hooked it up this morning–impressions soon @ RNHP thread.

Were you disappointed with his review?

No second thoughts now as the Sundara’s are leaving Vancouver today. Should have them late next week.

No–I had the RNHP drop-shipped directly to Amir, and I hadn’t heard one before the review came out–I had no set expectations to dash.

Besides, I read the review as essentially “RNHP = Really Not Horribly Problematic.” It’s not a bad product by the measurements. It’s just that amps with state-of-the-art measurements (the ASR ideal) may be had for less than the asking price of the RNHP.

I’m enjoying having a “famous” copy of a well-loved amp. And I like knowing the numbers–it’s good data that will help me correlate experience with measurements.
