Well do you know if the Zen DAC has the sound you are looking for?

Part of my problem is I don’t quite know exactly what it is I’m looking for specifically.
The solid state amps I’ve had are:
FX-Audio DAC-X6
FiiO A3
xDuoo XD-05

Tubes:
Little Bear B4
xDuoo TA-10

I must admit, I’ve LOVED my tubes. If anything, a bit more then any of the solid states I’ve owned. So… yeah. Not sure exactly what I want to dive into next. Both solutions should do what I’d like.

Ah so I would assume you are looking for something very warm and colored sounding then, if you like tubes. I think ifi is known for having a pretty warm and colored sound. The Hip DAC is supposedly super colored.

True, I’ve heard that. However, I’ve also looked into it, and found that I’m not as interested. Doesn’t quite feel right. Then again, in this situation, it just so happens to be higher among the list of things that could fit my needs but doesn’t feel quite right.

i’ll probably buy either a zendac (its small enough for my bedroom) or an xduoo-05 since i might not need MQA since i might move back to spotify… but i dont think the xduoo can be used without draining the battery

It can, you just have to make sure it’s plugged in like you would be charging it. How it handles it past that, I don’t know.

It seems like it won’t since it uses 2 different usb ports for power and data

I just want to use it nonstop on my laptop

I mean how it routes the power. It’s like with a UPS, it’ll handle power in one of two ways:

The battery is charged before simply passing through power
Or
The battery is under constant strain, being discharged to feed whatever is plugged into it while receiving a charge itself (these tend not to last as long for obvious reasons)

I had a couple of hybrid amps and didn’t really get anything out of rolling.

My newish tube amp is still in its virgin state.

Topping e30 arrived while my wife and I were eating dinner. Got it hooked up and it sounds great. I ordered it Tuesday of last week and it arrived from China today…quick turnaround. Majorly impressed with Apos Audio.
