There is some kind of tuning thing going on that occasionally doesn’t mesh well with certain tracks. It’s subtle enough to be inaudible most of the time, but once in a while something will sound slightly off. It’s like there’s an intentional rolloff or de-emphasis in a narrow band that usually helps certain elements of a track pop, but once in a while it steps on something important. I could believe that’s what you’re describing.
The only way I can describe this track on these headphones is tasty. Hits all the right parts about these cans.
Yep. After thinking about it more and listening some more, it feels as if that’s what I’m hearing. It’s not a deal breaker by any means, but is ever so slightly frustrating lol. At the same time, the rest of the good points about the headphone more than make up for that. If this is it’s one true flaw, I’ll be a happy boi.
Yea. I reallllllly like the way it treats the bass guitar. Listening to Vulfpeck, RHCP, Victor Wooten, and Jaco Pastorious is a treat.
These feel like the perfect cans for reggae right now imo. I’m just digging the whole presentation.
I look at it more like “character.” I have Stellias to feed my craving for detail and what feels like a more accurate presentation overall, but even they can’t keep up with the supernatural magic that the Eikons deliver with the right kind of music. That not every track is completely hypnotic is forgivable, lol.
Yup! I like Eikons for stuff like blues, folk, and bluegrass, too. A lot of that stuff combines soulful vocals with relatively uncomplicated compositions featuring natural instruments, and Eikons really help those types of tracks to shine spectacularly.
Glad you’re enjoying them (and glad you liked that deadmau5 track). I had to pull mine out this morning to play along.
Exactly. Still damn fucking enjoyable. And it’s only if I really listen for it, so if I just have these on doing work it won’t pull me out of the music.
Yes. Exactly. I’m having trouble deciding what to listen to right now, cause too much of my stuff is in those genres.
Sidenote, imo, if you want a good test of whether a headphone’s treble is piercing. Throw Uileann pipes (or other pipe variants) on and see if they’re tolerable. I can’t fucking stand it on my 990s (and I love uileann pipes in person, though they’re super rare at sessions in the US) or my Sundaras, but on the PM-50s and Eikons they sound pretty reasonable.
After a weeklong shopping spree, the first shipment has arrived! They may not look like much, but once the gear they go with shows up… What on earth could I be doing with these? Stay tuned…
The best tips for sound imo on the BL-03 I have tried are the Final Audio E tips. And you don’t need an o-ring for them because they grip on so well and don’t slip.
Placed ads to buy the Asgard 3 or RNHP if price is cheap enough.

New cables for headphones
Day two with a new SMSL M500 Mk II to pair with the new TA-20. Decided to go with the latest and greatest for a more permanent table top solution versus sticking with my Mojo. Using an old iPhone as a streamer/Roon endpoint feeding digital into the M500 via USB.
The ES9038Pro DAC chip sounds nice and even makes MQA sound killer. Should only get better with more burn-in. Now just waiting for XLR interconnects and an XLR headphone cable end from Hart to go fully balanced!
appreciate it but I will just wait on them… I tried that same thing with Adorama that said it was available and then got a message stating they are back ordered. It’s alright I will just audition them when they come in.
Added the Zen blue and tube buffer to my living room setup. Zen>el dac>buffer>Emotiva pt100\a-150>elac uni b5…been experimenting with separates, dacs and Bluetooth. I have the emotiva bluetooth dongle and I was wanting something more impactful. And the Zen blue really does great by itself or through the Emotiva built in dac, but if I bypass the dac to the el dac and buffer I’m extremely happy. Music sounds wide and punchy. Warm and relaxing.
