Iā€™m glad you like them, but the kph30i are not at all like the HD58X. The kph30i has a lot more mid bass and far less high frequencies (above 10k). I doubt you will have any problems with the HD58X as they are great, just donā€™t want you getting the wrong idea as to what to expect.

Also you should should probably take what I say with a grain of salt as I HATE the kph30i.

I thought they were crazy good at first but after I heard the KSC75 I realized they were just good for the price for the sound, if you are going for more of an average kind of dark tuning. Only if you like that sound that is. I personally detest 500hz and those seem to have a lot of bloat around there, the difference between them and the KSC75 as far as technicalities go is pretty noticeable. Once I heard the 75, I gave my 30i to my mom.

Few people know this but 8-tracks have better sound quality than vinyl records. but you need a really expensive player to get it

I think the kph30i hit above their price imo and ā€œgood for the priceā€ is an understatementā€¦ I can definitely see someone preferring the ksc75 (subjective of course) and their price to performance is higher I would agree but I think youā€™re under appreciating these a tad imoā€¦ theyā€™re pretty sweet and scale with gear and mods

To each their own. I just hated KSC75s too lol.

If you want to play that game. Best medium for mastered audio is 1) wav file with 0 compression or 2) magnetic tape reels. I would avoid 8 track personally unless a favorite artist produced music you enjoy on that media.

Ah yes, the ole one upper methodā€¦
I think he was just praising the gift/find. Give em a damn break.

I think they are pretty cool.

Yeah ā€¦ Kph30i and Porta pro gang for me that bass performance is where itā€™s at for these koss products for me and Any prior comfort issue just go easily mitigated by them yaxi pads.

You know whatā€™s really weird? I quite like the porta pros but canā€™t stand the kph30i. Itā€™s like the porta pros are the headphone everyone says the kph30i are.

I think itā€™s because they are the midlde ground between the 75 and 30i, a little less bass, more treble than the 30i, a little more bass, a little less treble than the 75.

I like all 3 for different reasons, but the porta pro and ksc75 definitely are better all rounders than the kph30i. Screw those ksc75 clips though, they are evil, lol

Iā€™m actually irritated at how good the kph30iā€™s sound. I canā€™t believe I listen to them when I have like $2000 in headphones sitting there. But I canā€™t help it! The bass is so good.

You sure the iFi bits will transfer the Audioquest data bits properly?

Am I muy loco buying a decade old DAC? Letā€™s see, with the selling old stuff as I listen and decide to move them on, itā€™s easier to justify these impulsive purchases. So far the DAC Iā€™ve enjoyed most in my journey over the last year or so has been an old Bel Canto (when I say old I mean 17 years old). So hell, this is quite a technical leap forward.

BTW, @M0N is always talkinā€™ bout how DACs are all about execution and not so much about the silicon, I shall soon find out.
