They’re somewhat V shaped, but more than that I think I figured out what the weird note I was getting from them is. They’re kind of echo-ey. This isn’t as noticeable when listening to talking over them, but who’s buying them for that? It’s kind of a hollowed out sound. Very weird and something I haven’t encountered with any of the headphones I’ve had. They are light and fairly comfortable, so I’m going to give them a good tryout before making any final decisions on them.
They sound awesome! i’m gonna get a pair. i love headphones that sound different and have a unique presentation.
Wow i think the Asians are at the forefront of new headphone tech. i’m keeping a close eye on them
pls no echoey headphone trend
Well the Helios is not echoey but it has a very cool presentation and timber and tone. i’m hoping the Sivga 06 2020 edition has a similar cool presentation.
I bought these today to help dim the RNHP lightsaber LED, lol.
good, now dim everything with it and live in peace
theyre so nice to have
Just got my K361 today. Its only a 80$ headphone. So i dont expect much and thats good thing cause i really dont find these that impressive. first its a pretty good headphone for 80$ it doesn’t distort, no grain. handles everything competently. seems to have a little bit of a veil on it. fans of the Sennhieser’s might like this. very little soundstage. I gotta be careful cause if the seal on it breaks bass drops like a rock. and it breaks easy for me. so i fidget with it a lot.
Its just not a very impressive headphone. its just competent. which i guess is a good thing at this price range. but it doesnt come close to headphones like the dt770, T20rp’s and the meze 99’s imo. it is better than the Cal’s. for 30$ more. Not sure how much better the K371 is
The 371 can be a bit more veiled but I’ve also heard the opposite. The thing with the 371 that I like is how Close it matches Harman and since Harman is pretty close to U shape you might like it.
Thanks but i dont think so. I really dont care for veiled headphones. Think i’ll go for the DT990 next. Though i liked my Helios more than the DT770. But the 770 has more bass and treble. so i think i’ll keep it
Honestly don’t know if you will like the 990 more than the Helios as I think the Helios is a betteratch for your tastes in respect to presentation but nice for you to try it out.
You never know till you try it. i was surprised by the dt770 when i didnt expect much. as a matter of fact i was surprised about the Helios. I didnt think it was gonna be as good as it was. I thought it would be right under the Sundara and a mediocre headphone. Now its my favorite lol. so you never know. The dt990 might be my next favorite. but maybe i should just get the DT177XGo or the DT1990 instead? Wish i could try them out. not sure. im really impressed with Beyer though.
I know it is a closed back, but still a lack of soundstage kind of goes against AKG’s heritage despite AKG (after two buyouts) being a very different company today (subdivision of Samsung).
I have both the Dt177X and DT1990, they are both great headphones in my opinion. The DT1990 is the better of the two but if you are looking for something portable as in something that is efficient, easy to drive and closed back get the DT177X but if it’s just going to be in doors connected to an amplifier all the time then the DT1990 is a better choice.
My opinion:
Both headphones are resolving with the DT1990 coming out on top, bass is more present on the DT177X but clearer on the DT1990. Neither seem to exhibit too much of a treble spike that gets sibilant or fatiguing (or maybe I’m not as affected by it).
Same here!
I used to have the AKG k371 and I personally found the treble to be on the brighter side. Not unbearable though…pretty good sounding headphones IMO. The K361 I didnt personally care for.
Interest in what you think of them …kinda looks like a kindergarten Campfire project? lol.
Just got a JDS Labs Subjective 3 from a local seller for $50. I’m not an EQ guy, but I figured I’d pick this up to tinker with and probably eventually sell it if I dont find a use for it (I may use it on my turntable speaker setup).
Good price! I love my little Loki. I don’t use it often, but cool to have. Especially if you get it for almost nothing.
thanks for this i think ill skip the akg’s and go straight for the 1990’s… just ordered Senn 600’s today, realizing its important to taste taste taste, but im all in on Beyer
