damn good price, Grant!
Yea man. I’m real curious. I bought em as well. Gotta check when they ship.
RebelAmp it is today. Hope it will be like a hulk
For that price it is worth it IMO.
I hope so. I loved my LCD2C, these should be an improvement in resolution while largely maintaining the house sound. Not a lot of reviews on these around, and none that say their worth msrp.
Did it work? How does it look?
The suspense is killing me… PICTURES, PICTURES, PICTURES!!
It got delayed 1 day, should be here tomorrow. I’ll take pictures.
I feel like I’ve been making some good decisions.
in a word…BOOYAH!!!
thoughts on the two compared? 2c here, thinking of trading for 2
I’ll post once they arrive for sure
Yes, as a matter of fact I am replying to myself. Quick update on the Sivga 006. If you look at them on Amazon, one of the photos specifies making sure the plugs are seated properly into the headphones. Believe me, make sure they are. That’s what was causing them to sound so weird earlier. The plug going into the cans will not want to go fully in without sufficient force. Anyway, they sound much more like I was hoping now, definitely on the bass heavy side but not too much so. And not bad at all for the price.
I’ve tried to explore both sides of that debate. Short version is that in my own repeated listening tests, all well-made cables (tight connectors, good physical build, etc.) perform about the same. Any “improvements” have been so minor as to fall within variances I experience listening on different days or repeated samples with my attention directed to different elements of the tracks.
My own conclusion is that nicer cables can undeniably deliver better aesthetics and perhaps some added conveniences (like balanced terminations). If it’s better sound quality you’re after, IMO it’s better to invest in the playback chain (amps, DACs, DAPs), then focus on cables last.
Specifically on Moon Audio, I bought one of their Dragon cables for my Elegias. They’re well made, but the cable is a bit on the stiff side. I also picked up a Corpse Cable for Elex, and it’s practically the same thing for less money.
FWIW, I lean “objectivist,” but my own position doesn’t exactly match the one in the article. I won’t say “cables make no difference because SCIENCE.” More like “cables have so far failed to demonstrate any meaningful, repeatable differences and any change to what I have heard from cable swaps can as easily be explained by factors such as listening memory, volume changes, or changes to how I’ve focused my attention while critical listening.” There could be something to the subjectivist argument that you need absolute top tier gear before cables make a difference, but that’s just an alternate way of stating that the role of cables is so minor that it takes an impeccable chain before cables become the weak link and therefore exhibit repeatable audible differences.
Perfectly said.
it’s funny, I like my electronics to be black…but for some reason, it seems wrong for the Schiit gear. I only like the looks of the matte silver .
The exact opposite is also true. I mean, KZ cables suck. Really suck. Literally, they suck the midrange out of the IEMs. They’re also for sale for ONE DOLLAR everywhere on eBay. They’re not worth that. KZ are just shooting themselves in the foot selling their IEMs with this shitty cable.
I thought all KZ IEMs were V-shaped until I bought a decent 10$ cable. Lol.
Honestly, and maybe I’ll be burned at the stake for this, but if they didn’t sell it in this finish, I probably wouldn’t have bought it.
See thats the thing. sometimes cables make a difference and sometimes they dont. sometimes the manufacturer just wants to save money and gives you a shitty cable. Thats why i want to be assured by buying a nice higher quality cable. but at a decent price. i’m talking 20-40$ at most. but the cable industry is so dubious. I wonder if im getting what is advertised or just being lied to.
Monoprice is a decent responsible company. so if they say im getting good quality copper and terminators ie 8 cores0.65mm(70.1mm)4+4 Hybrid Silver plated 4N OCC copper wire Cable. I believe them. it was 30$ I think 30$ is the sweet zone. I wish some company i could trust would offer good cables of that type at a decent price. over 40$ is too much
Monoprice only offers 2.5 to 3.5 cables
Just received the Audeze EL 8 Closed today. After a thorough cleaning with 80% alcohol solution (ended up taking a little bit of the paint off ) i tried them out. initial impressions. very nice. I’m impressed. I got this cause i heard it was V shaped. Its not really, more balanced. has a good amount of bass but not as much as you’d think for a closed back. And a good amount of treble despite that fact thats its a Audeze headphone. treble is not painfull at all. midrange is very good.
Close/medium soundstage. good imaging and separation but not great. very detailed headphone. all together sounds like a pretty classy headphone. very nice sound. i’d say it comes close to the Elex all around. but not quite on the same level. i paid 175$ for it. Its been discontinued. but ive seen it go on sale used for 300 - 400$, new for 700$. i’d say its worth about 400$ now.
the usb like connectors to the headphones are strange but i heard thats cause it was built to play off phones. yet the volume off my V20 is not satisfactory. At first i thought it had a simple wood veneer on the sides but its actually a pretty nice real wood covering. thin pieces layered on top of each other and placed sideways around the cup. looks and sounds like a very nice headphone indeed.
