Thanks, Iā€™m really not sure if I will prefer it over my edition XX or vice versa or if I will like both for different things. Only one way to find out!

I picked up a gently used Drop x Cavalli CTH and HD6XX. Loving the combo so far. Anyone happen to know of any DACs that compliment the CTH?

@Andrew_Davis, as a wire it meets the criteria of quality and flexibility. Once you get beyond that into all the specialties I really donā€™t knowā€¦ Iā€™m sure it does nothing better than other standard OFC 12 AWG wire but i happen to like thee color, thicker jacket and high strand count.

I have used my CTH with a few dacs. Modi3 is a pretty nice pairing. Iā€™ve also used an adi2, didnā€™t sound much different to the modi imo. The modius is a bit smoother but itā€™s not a balanced amp so a bit overkill imo. The bifrost2 (this just came in) sounds quite good but I think thatā€™s to be expected for the price tag lol.

I find the CTH to be a very capable and in many ways underrated amp. I feel like itā€™s a much less expensive and cooler running liquid platinum. I hope you enjoy it

The Modius is balanced. fat lot of good that does for the Asgard. the JOTUNHEIM is balanced. i think it will stack with the Modius too.

So with all the R2R talk it made me realise I am really a digital boy at heart so I bought the:

RME-ADI 2

The Elex was the beginning of my slide down that slippery slope. Those are great headphones! Enjoy!!

Iā€™m of the same school of thought (and experience) that good quality, properly manufactured wire/cables/interconnect all do the same job and that everything else is about feel and preference. And feel and preference matters!!

I have the same pairing and also really enjoy it. I donā€™t have too many DACs to experiment with but I am running it with the Grace SDAC and itā€™s very nice.

silver makes high notes sparkle more. solid core brings out da bass easier. high frequencies like small wire, low frequencies like large wire. all that being said, its very very minimal differences. and you really need expensive gear to hear the difference for the most part. or have magical ears like some people do lol that can hear every little change in the system. but odds are you are not, cause thats like 1 in a million to have ears that good.

i have tried a ton of different wire. these days i look for flexibility as my #1 criteria. stiff cords suck to work with. high strand count makes them more flexible. i have some made in the usa 14guage 7 thread wire. holy hell, its like bending fence wire. has its advantages inside speakers though, where you can bend the wire where you want it, and it stays put. but for speaker cables, its awful to work with lol.

R2R talk so you buy a sigma delta DAC? The RME is a good DAC but I am confused by your post.

Yeahā€¦ I prefer having my dac the way DS does it (specifically the RME) and have my amps do the magic

I understand that better

While I disagree with some of the phrasing, the important part is that you are getting what you think is best for your setup. Iā€™m curious to hear your experience with the RME DAC. What amp are you pairing it with it?

Havenā€™t gotten that far yet as Iā€™ve not really been paying much attention to amps. For now just the el amp and my little dot. Took me this long to figure out if I wanted r2r or stick with ds.

The El Amp is a sweet little amp. The pairing should be pretty good and might bring some sound signatures that might be hard to replicate elsewhere.
