What did you buy today? (Part 1)

I re-bought them to give my tube amp something to play with.
But I did have to add my Schiit Loki to the chain.

I then tried them quickly in the Violectric and Wow!

Wow, that really is beautiful

Modded D5000 / D7000? Who did the job or where did you buy them? I have a pair sitting around at home with a faulty cable that Iā€™ve been thinking of giving some new love with fresh cups / pads and a brand new cable.

Just got these two little schiits.
Iā€™m feeding them audio through the Apple USB-C 3.5mm DAC.

First impressions:

  • This configuration ā€œfeelsā€ less powerful than my HEL. I think itā€™s because the DAC outputs less power (HEL has its own DAC).
    • Could also be that the HEL has different gain values, but its max volume is also lower if I feed it audio from the dongle.
    • Still enough power to drive my Sundara / DT 770 PRO 250 / 6XX around noon for most songs, so Iā€™m not complaining, just a little surprised.
  • Loki is fantastic. I really enjoy being able to tweak how things sound on the fly, without having to use a PC or FiiOā€™s rather inconvenient software.
  • This schiit gets warm. I initially stacked them, but that seemed to cause more heat build-up. Woof. The configuration in the photo seems to help keep the temperature down.
  • I do need to get a small base to elevate them, the Loki knobs are very annoying to use like this.
  • I did some quick blind A/B tests. Honestly, if you volume match properly, telling the difference between the HEL and the Magni 3+ is really hard. Even just using the USB-C 3.5mm output directly was almost indistinguishable, but of course its max volume is much lower than the other two.

Overall, Iā€™m enjoying this setup.
Iā€™ll spend some more time with it, then write down a post with more detailed thoughts about it.

It can and is pretty good imo (if you are talking about the micro, the nano might struggle)

Cool. Thereā€™s a prime listing for the Ninja Edition of the T1 gen 2 (does that sound different from the regular T1?) and was wondering.

I bought the micro, yeah.

Sort of have a plan on buying stuff in the future in terms of headphones once supplies become less borked
880 600 ohm
Clear Professionals
HD 600
800s
880
Some of the hifiman planars
D8000 pro (if I can find someone who sells them as I can only find the reg 8000)
Aeon 2 closed
Maybe LCD 24

and just want to make sure any amp I buy will work with widest range of headphones possible

I had both editionsā€¦sound similarā€¦the 2nd edition has removeable cablesā€¦and its tuned for a bit more bass and ā€œtamesā€ the high end brillianceā€¦

But for the most part same Beyer 'house" soundā€¦

The t1 vs t1.2 is pretty different, I think he was referring to the regular t1.2 vs the t1.2 ninja, instead of the original t1 vs the t1.2 ninja

If thats the case, its all cosmeticā€¦

Yeah pretty sure there isnā€™t a difference in sound whatsoever (not even a slight one like the 880 silver vs black pads)
