Upping the game a tiny bit and looking to see if i can squeeze out that last bit of extra performance percentage points out of current gear in hand…
Sorbathane pads of different sizes and squishiness… And a thingy that @M0N mentioned to me, usb to spidif converter box… Just waiting on some decent cables and accessories now.

My WILDEST looking stack yet.

My Hifiman came in today as well lol. I was thinking I wouldn’t pick these up. But then I saw a great deal on a like new unit on Amazon. I hoping these will be the 4XX upgrade I’ve been looking for.

Just ordered a pair of TYGR 300 R, I’m not really sure why! Looking forward to them though.

I was shocked how much extra I got out of it when I made the switch. Mine was an open box LKS, those Matrix boxes look even better, but I just didn’t have the cash to commit with all the other “outlays” the hobby presents us.

When I’m done I’m going to have about three or four different DACs for sale here.

It is a V2! So far I don’t know if I’d call it dark (limited listening-time caveats apply)…U shaped?..Word on the street is it’s darker/warmer than other HiFiMans but probably doesn’t cross into more general “dark” territory.

I am definitely enjoying so far. Sorry you’ve been so many months without yours.

@db_Cooper congratulations on the nice purchases. Same here, I’m looking to maximize both my desktop and listening room set-ups. I am getting better at understanding what SQ’s I enjoy most. Almost everything I have sounds great, to include the budget items, the difference I find is that some products play better with others and they get nice synergy together with certain genre’s.

I’m playing with the Matrix now on my desk just to see what it does or doesn’t. I’m waiting on some “better” cables and a SPIDIF splitter. I want to limit myself to 3 DAC’s per system. I am hoping I can let go of the rest beyond those 6…I have hoarding issues

Make sure you give it an external linear power source, otherwise you’re leaving detail on the table.

What is a GOOD linear 6-9v LPS? I have several 5v but just realized they will NOT work on it after reading the label on the back  :triumph:

I thought about that. My solution would have been had I bought the Matix… putting something like this in line to my current LPS. Cable in, 12v cable out 6~9v.

Obviously a nice aluminum box, or I’d probably just mount it inside the case of the desktop PS I use now. Plenty of room in there and just have the special 6v power line out.

I have thought about those many times, but they are $900.00, plus tax, on Canadian Amazon. Too much for me right now.

I can hold onto all that stuff for ya until you get more self-control :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Got these a day early. Why does Grado have to do that to the cable? Speaking of the cable, it’s thinner and softer than what my Hemps have, but seems like it will not last as long (still plenty durable though).

The WORST part of any Grado is that F*%#in’ cable. :unamused:

I recall seeing somewhere that you can send your headphones into Grado to be upgraded to balanced. anyone know anything about that?

I know they offer balanced cables as an upgrade option when buying a headphone (for like $170) but I do not know about sending your headphones in for the upgrade. I would imagine they will do it since they often re-cable old Grados (for repairs) from what I’ve heard.

well…unless they were the top end model, could risk doing a balanced detachable mod.

Depends on the headphone. I asked about it a year to a year and half ago and they said yes, they could convert to XLR. I asked several weeks ago about my GH2 woodies and now they are saying no, the wood is too fragile. I am guessing a few transplants didn’t go well and they had to hand out new replacements.
