What did you buy today? (Part 1)

Time to see what all the fuss is about

change the wood backs? LoL

Never! I was leery of getting them modified as I thought I might, one day, sell them.

That’s awesome!

I picked one up a couple of months ago and I’m really pleased with it. Bit-Perfect performance, and a quality build. Matrix Audio is really making some top-notch products.

If I may, I’d like to suggest picking up one of these for your Qutest to the X-SPDIF 2:

Completely transparent and probably the best/least expensive option for connecting the two. Rob Watts actually recommends TOSLINK for his designs.

Cheers!

Could say the same about Focal?

Focal cables are horrid, yes, but removable. You at least have the option of not using them.

Aye true, but it is strange that manufacturers like Grado and Focal can produce TOTL HP’s but can’t make cables for toffee, kinda taking the piss isn’t it :man_shrugging:

To a lesser degree and, as the man said, they are removable.
I find the Focal ones irritating. I HATE the Grado cable.

Agreed. Also attached cables are a cardinal sin in this day and age, IMO. And any headphone over 100USD should have the option to run balanced, IMO. Balanced isn’t audibly inherently better, but there are enough individual products that do sound better balanced and manufacturers shouldn’t remove those products as options for their customers.

I totally get what you are saying but there are a couple phrases here that I’ve never heard in my life so I have to assume they are very English.

Focal cables are very easy to replace. They use common connector types that are easy to source and such.

Yep and they are great. Rocking a custom Hart on my Elegia currently.

yes i love that, how is that bass boost with those on the Hip?

Very enjoyable for some of the genres that I listen to. It gives the Elegia a nice low end kick for rock / edm. The Elegia is already so strong and clear in the mids that I don’t usually find the bass boost too invasive.
