The SR80e cable (4 conductors) is no more than 2 darbs and the Hemp cable (8 conductors) is maybe 3 darbs. They get much better after a few days out of the box with some massaging, but they would be pretty much perfect by now if they had been coiled in the box as opposed to folded.
Still waiting for my 2.5 4.4 adapter to try balanced. SE sounds very balanced with Portaprosā¦ Iāll let you know when Iāve done more experimenting.
Very nice, Iām still burning in, ive only had a few minutes with It so far, gonna be used mostly for production purposes
Argon Mk3 Balanced, deerskin and lambskin. These were lovingly taken care of and sold to me by @FiCurious. Thank you. If you ever are thinking about selling or buying from @FiCurious, they are totally trustworthy. I canāt quite listen to these properly as my normal headphone amp / audio interface (Motu M2) canāt really drive them. So Iām waiting for my Magnius Amp and Heart cables now.
Fostex T(H/R)-X00 Purplehearts (with balanced+removable cable mod and a reversible resonance mod by previous owner, looks like it may even been professionally modded.)
I paid waaaaaaaaaaay too much for these, but completely worth it and exactly what was looking for. I donāt normally like purple, but a little like a purpose built car, wild colors work. Deep purple looks good on bass cannons that can wiggle eyeballs through skull. My only wish was that the high mids were a little brighter.
(It didnāt show up in the image but one cable connection has a red indicator)
Haha. I have a customer who is a physician in private practice. When he moved offices he told me that moving out was like ādecommissioning a battleship.ā
His comments about trying to adjust to a new office are better not repeated in polite company.
If you paid anything under $450 for those PH it was probably worth it. The removable cable mod is a rather good one. Those connectors require no modification of the cups iirc, so if you want to try the EMU ebony cups or do the Lawton mod later down the line this wonāt be a problem. Also Lawton makes (rather expensive) cables with that connector. The wood look like itās a very bright color and looks great. Itās obvious those where taken care of. I hope you like them and welcome to the club.

Dang. Quite the haul lol. Some solid choices there
My favorite part of that video was him using the QES Reference Amp that has an output impedance of like 540 Ohms and then calling the Clears beats for audiophiles. Pretty dumb IMO as it was obviously the amp coloring the Clears heavily.
Itās a current drive amp, and the focals respond pretty poorly to current drive amps I have tried, they get way overbloated and loose control in the bass, the midrange goes wonky, and treble gets somewhat peaky almost, really not great. For the hpba-2 you want to have at least 200 ohms on it to get a decent experience, that amp was pretty damn great with hd800s and t1.2, but with the focals it would sound like ass imo
Donāt worry, audiophiles love carpet. Nice chair
This guy is what makes me want to just buy from him instead of building myself. Its good work and the finishes are all classy.
And some symbio tips
Selling my Andromedas to fund, if anyone wants a pair lemme know lol
Wow, another flip already?
Iāve not heard of the Hyla Sarda (company or model). FR looks like a pretty pronounced V, though the couple reviews I read seem to underplay that and give the mids a thumbs up.
Iād be curious to hear a review when you get them in since theyāre totally unfamiliar to me and seem like a bit of an outlier in terms of being a triple-hybrid with an apparently-bold tuning.
BTW, are your Andros 2019 or 2020 models?
2019 V3s. Found them quite underwhelming compared to the hype, and there are definitely better options for me out there.
Sardas are a pronounced W afaik
Amazing. That finish makes them practically an objet dāart.
