was the wood choice a significant upgrade over stock?
these are so fun, using with a BTR5 balanced, enjoy!
Dude those look amazing!
Iāll probably be doing the same thing, just need to get a balanced cable for them

Thatās complicated.
The ZMF store offers bundle deals for the Pendant amp + headphones and bundle deals for LTD headphobes and cables + the Salire stand, so I emailed Zach to ask the best way to place an order for all of that.
My original intent was to buy the LTD Leopardwood, but as Zach and I exchanged emails he offered to make me a stabilized set, and of course I said HELL YES, PLEASE.
My actual pricing was muddied by being rolled into a large package deal as well as being a special offer from Zach. In the end he had me order everything at list and then made me a custom coupon code.
I honestly donāt know why Iām so special to deserve that (right place, right time, plus Zach is awesome?), but I did hear him mention in a live stream that stabikized cups cost 15x as much to make as regular cups, so expect a premium when these roll out officially. Iām also not certain of how the process will work, but since stabilized ssts are so wildly unique I wouldnāt be surprised tk see them sold off 1x1 as unique LTD offerings.
Zach is awesome, all that has to be said.
thank you for all this detail, ive seen so many nice sets, seems like the best way is just to email him and see what is possible, thanks again
If I remember correctly he mentioned it probably wonāt be the typical zmf āmade to orderā but rather they will be made beforehand and put on the site to be purchased as is.
I imagine there will be a sonic difference. Wonder what that will be like.
Raytheon 6080WB tubes arrived today. They sound excellent. I was surprised by what great shape they were in. The seller found 2x 500 count boxes in a storage locker near Port Hueneme, California.
Wow, that is some nice wood!!!
Those are beautiful. You lucked out on the figuring in the wood. Certainly not every Verite they sell has that sort of amazing grain.
How do they sound? From everything Iāve read Verites actually do need a long break in. My new VOās are at 36 hours break inā¦and sadly only like 2 hours on my head!!!
Zach commented on that in one of the live streams. He mentioned that when he chooses a standard wood for various models, he does so with a sort of maximum resonance target so that any LTD woods he choose will have less resonance than that. As I recall, the stabilized sets donāt have the pores that other woods do (because theyāre filled), so they tend to behave like denser hardwoods with little resonance.
Since I only have the one VC and barely any time on it, I canāt really comment to that, but I can say that my set sounds fantastic and has pretty rapid decay with little resonance. It doesnāt diminish the sense of spaciousness at all when a track counts for it, and seems to play well with the sense of speed from the driver.
I was able to choose these earcups from several sets. Originally I went in wanting purple, but this set caught my eye and wouldnāt let go. I love how the cup is exotic with a heart of natural wood. Reminds me of the VC itself with the marriage of very down-to-earth wood with exotic Beryllium coared PET drivers to make the magic happen. And that cool black outline that almost looks like cel shading, lol.
I posted a few impressions over on the VC thread. Short version is that they defy their closed-back nature and have sounded amazing with everything Iāve played, unlike Eikons which I love for certain music types (vocals, acoustic genres), but arenāt my first pick for everything.
Just ordered an Asgard 3 with dac card, after months of torturing myself over what to get. Finally forced to pull the trigger by the failure of my current dac/amp combo.
Iām really looking forward to this. And Iām really hoping I find that, yeah, there really is a difference after all between my super-budget amp and something thatās considered significantly higher up the chain.
Interested to hear your thoughts between this and the BF2.
Yeah ditto. Curious to see where the two end up fitting in. Thanks man.
