So, Hanekawa is your monogatari best girl huh?
There is no argument great enough to suggest otherwise. of all the choices Hanekawa is the only legal one who prob wont kill you in your sleep.
Finally purchased the Massdrop x Empire Ears Zeus with everything included from a Head-Fi user that has gone back and forth between selling them and says he’s only used them 2 hours, he’s even including a GUcraftsman balanced cable ($130 retail) all for only $450 shipped!
Koss PortaPro’s
I got them on and they sound nice and all, but can we take a moment to appreciate this presentation?
I got the Porta Pro X. Almost immediantly swapped the pads for Yaxi pads.
Excellent choice! I’d pick up a pair of Yaxi Pads to swap onto them. They improve comfort so much and are well worth the $15ish.
This sucker showed up yesterday:
And this son of a bitch showed up today without a USB cable (NOT FUCKING HAPPY) and am trying to make it work with the USB I do have from when I had a uPhoria.
Lol, well, I hope you’ll make this sucker and this son of a bitch work.
Oh yeah that “printer” USB cable. Good luck.
USB B to USB A.
On USB, the “Link” and “Play” lights are on, but no sound. Period. Line out from my XD-05 to the TA-10, and I’ve gotta crank the volume, and headphones work
My PS Audio Sprout100 also did not come with a usb cable. very disappointing considering how much i paid…
If I remember correctly the pins are to press a reset button (I don’t know where exactly).
Is the clicking in you headphones or is the AMP itself clicking (like the amp is making a noise that is not part of any output signal). If it is the later then mine does that as well. I thinks it’s like relays switching.
I’ve been thinking of getting that amp too. how much did it cost? is it hybrid or full tube?
Hybrid, and it was ~$255 shipped from Apos.
Since I have two weeks to file a complaint with Apos about the missing USB cable, and they are so cheap, I placed an order for one on Monoprice along with a USB hub so shit can all be plugged into my laptop (not that it needs to).

Just means I get to spend awhile longer with having to use the line out of my XD-05. If the new cable is working, I’ll decide if it’s worth it to bitch. If it doesn’t work, I make people’s lives hell and get a replacement.
The ta-03s is a full tube amp if that’s what you’re looking for
How do you like the xd-05? I’ve been looking at picking one up
Well i heard hybrids dont give as strong a tubby sound as full tubes. is that true?
I’m the wrong dude to ask… just starting to research them but not everything is universal so proceed with caution lol
That is true for the most part. A hybrid would allow you to use stuff like the Ananda which is nice but it’s not going to be as “tubey” as an otl tube amp, but an otl wouldn’t be something you would want to run an ananda on
Like M0N said, they tend not to be quite the same. Some hybrids can give you a decent tubey sound, and some just sound like a solid state. With the little that I’ve been able to listen to mine, it does fuck with the sound a bit. I’m also operating off either using the DAC in my XD-05 or line in from my Taotronics BT sender/receiver from my laptop (So far the one thing that uses Apt-X that I own), so I can’t comment on the DAC quite yet. I can say that the TA-10 does take a good minute to warm up though.
