Have fun with it

Mine are still just saying estimated delivery as 3/1. Awesome you got yours early!

No no
I have a BHC too and it is such a gateway that I want more tube amps!

I also have a ZMF on the way that I can’t wait to try out.

Thanks! And me too! Getting away from the desk was one of the goals with this purchase.

You don’t need to go balanced unless you experience ground loops, need long cable runs, or that the amp topology is designed around a xlr output with the SE output being an afterthought (see Cavalli amps). Then again, in the case of Cavalli amps (if you don’t have the other two issues), they’ll accept single-ended input just fine as well.

Just received Sony MH755 and Tripowin TC-01. I’ve been wanting to try these two. The Sony was surprisingly hard to find. I always found a modded MH755, not the original one, then I found out about the short cable. Looks like I need to mod it now.

Sony MH755 first impression

The sound quality is surprisingly good. For $8.00, this absolutely punch above its price bracket. I would even say that this is better than some of the KZs IEM, but don’t get me wrong. This is no where near god tier or something like that.

I think the bass is quite unique. It has the quantity, but not the quality. You can absolutely have an ear blaring bass with some EDM music, but if you actually listen to the bass portion of the IEM, you’ll find that it’s lacking in resolution. The IEM also can’t really reproduce spatial information that well (I used Dr. Chesky’s Sensational, Fantastic, and Simply Amazing Binaural Sound Show album to check this one). The mids is too recessed for my taste and the highs are okay.

If I would judge the sound quality alone, I will give it 6/10, but considering the price, I would give it 8.5/10. It is the price to performance ratio that makes this IEM spectacular.

Tripowin TC-01 first impression

I bought this IEM because I saw BGGAR’s review and he said it’s a Blon BL-03’s replacement. Other reviewers also says the same. Now that I have it on my hands, I wouldn’t really call it as a Blon BL-03 replacement. Before you bring your pitchfork, hear me out.

The sound out of the box is not that impressive in my opinion. I prefer a forward vocal presentation and this one has a little bit pushed back vocal presentation. The high is quite good, but I feel like it’s lacking in something. I don’t know what it is, but in some Chesky’s record album, the vocals sounds kinda off to me and some acoustic guitar sounds too bright for my preference. The bass is pretty good. It is tight and you can feel its presence, but it’s not a basshead’s IEM.

If you compare this with the Blon and powered with your phone or BTR5, I can see why some people prefer the TC-01. It has better resolution and the sound is well controlled. But the TC-01 lacks behind when you compare it to a properly powered modded Blon. The modded Blon simply has a better impact, better resolution and dynamic. I think if you will only use the IEM on your phone, the TC-01 is the better one, but if you are willing to mod the Blon and power it with a proper amp, the Blon wins.

The last thing that I want to add is that the TC-01 doesn’t really scales up with a more powerful amp or more refined amp. I guess it’s both an advantage and a disadvantage. You’ll pretty much get the same sound with any sources, your phone or your 3W per channel amp.

If you care about the wire, the wire felt pretty good. It is not microphonic and kinda supple on the hand. I measured it and the impedance was at around 220 to 200mΩ. Not that great, but not the worst either.

Edit on TC-01 impression

I saw a review of these bulbs online, connected to an Alexa device

the guy called its 4 bulbs “Hue Jackman, Hue Grant, Hue Laurie and Hue Heffner”

A 100$ switch.

I’m using it “backwards” (1 DAC in, 3 amps out – it’s a passive 3-in-1-out switch so not a problem – I mean, it’s basically a Y-cable in a thicc faraday cage). Sending a (full volume) DAC RCA out to it, there’s a tiny bit of “channel bleed” (with the switch at “2”, you hear a bit of the music in amp 1 or 3). Obviously not a problem for me: When I use one amp, I don’t use the two others.

Why a 100$ switch? Because it’s a step above the 20$, “interference magnets”, pieces of crap with blue buttons on Amazon, that, when plugged in (here anyway), you hear “krkshvcrhhrhcvh”.

Why not a Y-cable, then? For whatever reason, when one amp was powered off, the other distorted. Not anymore.

Little surprise when I got it here: There’s an “off” option, not shown on Amazon photos. They sell the exact same switch with “4-outs-1-in”. So, funny thing is, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the exact same knob, and the “off” is just a piece of metal not connected to anything, so I can “upgrade” by adding 2 RCA outs and drilling 2 holes if needed.

I was looking at that box the last few nights! And the four line box for future expansion.
I noticed that there are two similar boxes. It took me a minute to figure out that the one with a knob is a switcher and the one without the knob must just be a splitter.
I want to go DAC/SE to Schiit Loki to my three amps. And a fourth line in case I decide to go OTL.

I am also thinking I would rather go passive than powered.

I ordered the same one, passive so I didn’t need to take up another power socket and that it would just send the signal as is to whatever amp I wanted.

Yes, I nearly made that mistake too. Lol.

I don’t know why someone would want to go “active” or “powered” with a splitter, it’s already another point of failure and if you want a switch for all the stuff you have you already have too much knobs and buttons.

Damn those look good

“need”, no.
They generally ship with pretty decent NOS tubes, what they ship with seems to vary a bit.
A lot of people will tube roll with them though.

NOS sounds good enough, BHC sure is tempting. people were like “no need to roll the little dot mk2” and the improvement in SQ and less noise floor was massive.
