Will do. I also have UM 3DTs and imho that was a definite yes compared to the other single DDs I have - that was until the Olina landed .
Brought the rest of my desktop home today. Last thing to add is shelves for the speakers, to get them off my components. That’s this weekend’s project!
I got the headphone chain about two weeks ago (PC>Soekris 2541>Vio V281>Elegia). Today I added the speaker side (Vio pre-out>Yamaha RX-385>Yamaha TST-SW50>Boston Accoustics HD5’s). The receiver, sub, and speakers ran me a cool $120, and they’re all in -perfect- condition. I’d swear the seller must’ve re-foamed the speakers last week, and it’s all super clean, and performing above expectations.
Could use a wee more bass, but the big problem is positioning. The room isn’t very big, and I have very limited places to put it. You can hear the bass better in the next room than you can in my chair, but I have it dialed in nicely from my listening position, it’s just excessive in other places
So far, very impressed.
After today’s upgrade work on the bedroom system
https://forum.hifiguides.com/t/share-your-home-theater-setup/11393/107
I realized that there is only one thing I want to improve - I need to have a second Toslink input that leads to the DAC. Unfortunately, the M200 only has one Toslink interface. So, I picked up a Toslink switcher. Now the CD player will also feed into the M200 and take profit from the Chain.
BTW, the more I listen to this setup, the more I am liking the AKM chip that the M200 is rocking.
If you paid paypal you will get refund just file the claim as paypal screws over sellers 99% of the time
Finally completed my input upgrade for my primary desktop. Ordered the new Ducky One 3 Full back in early November. ordered it with Cherry MX Silvers, but they’re hot swappable so I’ll probably play around with mixing some different models. Also replaced the stock keycaps with a mixed set of Glorious Aura V2 caps in black and white, added o-rings to the caps as well. Mouse was also upgraded from my Logitech G900 to a Glorious Model D wired.
Here’s a shot of the board before the cap replacement
And after
Did you change the paracord on the mouse? Thinking about doing the same to mine
Look at that frequency response. Very nice bass extension and level, treble needs work. Applied some quick eq with the sonarworks app. Sounding very decent.
Yeah, but I didn’t have to mod. Glorious sells replacement cables in different colors.
Damn you, CanJam. I had to buy these LCD-2Cs (used for $550) since they were the only affordable cans that blew me away.
Finally I’ll test out how far I can push the BASS BOOST in my “neutral with bass boost” general preferences. Without having a compromised treble response. Found a gent willing to sell his Hekili (on HeadFi, but I expect they’re on here too most likely!)
So long as it doesn’t come with trade-offs in mids, or lack of texture, I’ve always been up for as much tactility and warmth in the low end as I can get. This seems to push the natural limits of that.
The mids look like they’re given plenty of room on the graphs too. As someone who loved the Lokahi, I’m very excited right now.
The Toslink switcher arrived today. Of course, it was installed immediately.
That’s it, upper left. It’s a very small but cool device. Now I can watch TV/movies and with a press of the switchers’ remote, I am now listening to CDs! It’s fantastic. And I forgot to mention, The CD player is acting like a true transport now and has never sounded so good. I think I am actually done here now. Phenomenal improvement in this rag-tag system over the last few days.
Not really a recent buy, but I wanted to share a little life hack I discovered:
I bought a ZMF strap for T50RP’s because I was considering to buy the Dekoni Blues. Instead, I bought the Beyerdynamic Tygr 300 R, and ZMF doesn’t allow returns for their products.
As a result, I had the strap lying around collecting dust. However my brain’s synapses had a spark, and my neurons activated:
I decided to layer the strap on my head, or hang my Tygers. This keeps the foam stiff when I wear my cans, and it also prevents long-term damage (if any)to the foam as they hang on my stand. Also, I find the Tygrs to be more comfortable, because I don’t feel fatigued from wearing my cans for too long.
I just gotta be careful about removing my Tygrs now, or else the strap will flop onto the floor really loudly.
Got my new Focal Elegia last night still breaking them in
I’d love to get more comfortable pads but god damn 100$ for a set of pads is a tough pill to swallow
Dekoni sheepskins improve the comfort on the elegia, they are a little less than $100. Keep a lookout for deals and B-stock.
Totally forgot about B stock! thanks man, now i just have to deal with the fact that its 30$ shipping FML
