Put an order in a couple days back for a set of Powerbeats Pro that were barely used if at all, with the box. $65-70 shipped, I think!
I know the signs of a fake to look them over when they come, but I vetted the eBay seller profile first and he seems like a legit individual with glowing and specific reviews.
One excuse fewer not to work out in this beautiful non-mosquito weather – I don’t have to stop listening!
Meze Liric inbound. Heard it at Capital Audiofest and liked it well enough to jump. Was going to post about it earlier, but it hadn’t been announced yet, lol.
Executive summary: it’s a quite nice, energetic, easy to drive closed planar. Sound and comfort wise, it trades blows with Stealth, but at half the cost. Build quality is one area that, IMO, Stealth clearly surpasses LIRIC’s plainer looks and somewhat pedestrian style. I also liked the Stealth comfort a smidge more, but apart from mildly aggressive clamping force, LIRIC is super comfortable as well. And clamping force is mitigated by THICC pads.
For me, LIRIC lands in quite a nice role in my collection as a highly capable closed back alternative to Verite Closed and Stellia. The former is still reigning champ for me, particularly for engaging vocals and other tracks with which I want to connect emotionally. Stellia is great for maxiumum detail extension, but has intimate staging. I still enjoy it for complex tracks, etc.
LIRIC offers a more energetic alternative to VC with a big stage and knockout imaging. It’s refined enough to earn a place as “closed can for rock + electronica” with VC retaining the top spot for most everything else. It will be interesting to pit LIRIC against Stelliia since both are easy to drive; both could be considered endgame closed over-ears.
They’re under pre-order. This could be from the one and only professional review right now… The one DMS released 2 days ago. More then likely, underestimating demand, as they have fewer reviews, less sold, fewer comments in the discussions about them…
Hope the “hype” is real… (can we already call it a hype?)
Had the Ananda for a year and then sold them to get HD800. Kind of miss them. Some people here say the XS are better than the Ananda and only half the price (Ananda 1000 Euro in Germany) so I give them a shot.
