There are two types of people in this world. There are Tool fans, and then there are those who should be.
Mixed bag. Ordered both the Fidelio X3 and the Aria. X3 arrived yesterday and were borked out of the box. Only one channel working and the one that did was barely making noise. Tried swapping the cable around, same side still dead. And swapped to different cables I have that fit, same issue. So theyāre going back and a replacement set is on their way, hopefully without the problems. Aria arrived today and giving them a initial workout. More bass than expected. Like them to start, cymbals sound a little bit tinny, but otherwise very strong sound. Need to let my brain burn in with them a bit for a better impression.

I grabbed this so when I am on the thrown I can 30w rapid charge my CRAP $1400 SONY because a normal usb charger isnāt enough to keep it going while browsing images on telegram.
And here Iām going to spend money again
But heck for tool itās worth it
Man I wanted to get in in that pre-order, but ended up with 4-5 reasons why I couldnāt bring myself to jump in.
it isnāt TOTL gear but I enjoy tinkering with things so I decided to buy some DIY earbud parts and rig together some custom MX500 earbuds. Iām still waiting on the metal housings but what you see in the picture is a pair of 130ohm beryllium & 150ohm drivers. If these end up being any good maybe iāll give it a go at building my own IEMs.
sure iāll keep you posted but not quite sure where it would go. if anything iāll update the post.
3 DDās better than 1?..Do please let us know your thoughts
Will do. I also have UM 3DTs and imho that was a definite yes compared to the other single DDs I have - that was until the Olina landed .
Brought the rest of my desktop home today. Last thing to add is shelves for the speakers, to get them off my components. Thatās this weekendās project!
I got the headphone chain about two weeks ago (PC>Soekris 2541>Vio V281>Elegia). Today I added the speaker side (Vio pre-out>Yamaha RX-385>Yamaha TST-SW50>Boston Accoustics HD5ās). The receiver, sub, and speakers ran me a cool $120, and theyāre all in -perfect- condition. Iād swear the seller mustāve re-foamed the speakers last week, and itās all super clean, and performing above expectations.
Could use a wee more bass, but the big problem is positioning. The room isnāt very big, and I have very limited places to put it. You can hear the bass better in the next room than you can in my chair, but I have it dialed in nicely from my listening position, itās just excessive in other places
So far, very impressed.
After todayās upgrade work on the bedroom system

I realized that there is only one thing I want to improve - I need to have a second Toslink input that leads to the DAC. Unfortunately, the M200 only has one Toslink interface. So, I picked up a Toslink switcher. Now the CD player will also feed into the M200 and take profit from the Chain.
BTW, the more I listen to this setup, the more I am liking the AKM chip that the M200 is rocking.
