@MazeFrame check this out see what you think. I picked one up to replace a generic PS, it’s substantially heavier for what its worth. No detail on ripple which is what I was looking to find but maybe you can better evaluate given the PCB and components.
EDIT:
supply can really stably output 150W for long time
Congrats! Looking forward to your impressions of it - really made me a believer.
Great sounding DAC. You’re gonna love it!
Hard to say from the pictures. Would need component markings and the like.
A few general things:
-
Their “us vs others”-example is a bit of a shot in their own foot. The “Generic” one has an attempt at grid side filtering (Class X2 capacitor & Common Mode Choke), the big primary side capacitor has a discharge resistor next to it (I guess? Might be boot-strap power), some attempts at anti-tracking slots were made (marked below)
Isolation between primary and secondary looks good-ish (no way to tell how the transformer windings are without putting an HV-arc-tester to it)
-
Their matt-black PCB could hide a lot of good or a lot of crimes, no way to tell from pictures.
Anti-tracking slot under the Opto-Isolator looks good though:
As far as I can, that is the only isolation slot. Worse than the “generic” one. -
Heatsink wise, the “Others” example uses two large presumably aluminium pieces running along the inside of the case. Theirs uses finned heatsink, in an enclosure without vent holes. Doesn’t mean anything, just a quirky thing to do.
-
Edit: The “Others”-unit has some traces reinforced with solder for higher current carrying capability. Nice to see, maybe it helps?
Congratulations. That is a most impressive collection of Boxes, Wires, and Boxes with Wires. If I were running this setup I would have tried the audio bridge too. As you have it there, it’s hard to identify any weak links in the chain. Enjoy.
Thanks.
Also, the ‘boxes’ part is a reference to:
Did not buy but received from a Buddy that was not using… Thought I would check it out… Pretty interesting… Have not even messed with it just plugged it in and turned it on.
Although price wise they are not too bad… 60 bucks at Sweetwater
Oh! and close to Schiit sized as well…
NOOOOOO! Not an EQ! BLASPHMER!! I like it. I had one hooked up to my old Marantz SR-220. Worked a treat! Have fun with it.
EQ is like old school DSP ? ASP analog sound processing?
It’s been in my amazon cart for a month now… First thoughts?
Had a few things arrive today, most of which I am borrowing to try out different cups on my Lawton E-MU’s, also a Geshelli stack with Schiit Eitr to try out since I’ve always been interested in them. Also did a part exchange for the t60s and d2000s, definitely gonna be modifying the d2000s with a detachable cable (I already know they deserve it) and hopefully gonna modify them a bit to allow for Lawton cups. T60s so far are definitely very nice to look at they also sound better, to me, than the argons for sure. They are much more engaging and energetic than my MK2 Argons were. I’d like to see what pad swaps etc would do to these and maybe the Argon mod for these.
My 6P14P-EV tubes just arrived. I have them in the Quicksilver with my Matsushita 12AX7 tubes burning in.
Bought the LSA HP2 Zembrano and also this ONE pillow with two different sides. Nujabes on one an 볼빨간사춘기 (Bol4) on the other. Two of my legit favorite artists
And tomorrow I expect to post in this thread again with the most expensive piece of equipment I have bought
Forza AudioWorks Noir Hybrid HPC
…and some miscellaneous items. FTDI programing cable for loading custom filters into Soekris DAC’s, and some tube socket savers that had been lost in a shipping black hole.
