I Have finally made an audio purchase in 2026! I needed a solution to get sound to the garage. After some research etc. I have gone with the Edifier M60 Bluetooth speaker set.
These little guys rock! The 3” woofs deliver surprisingly good range and low-level dynamics. Overall FR and stage are really good for what they are. And you will not find an easier set of speakers to set up. Though their mission is the garage, you can take them literally anywhere that has an electrical outlet. Great buy!
I picked up iBasso AMP14 for my DX340. I have 13 which is single-ended only but I love it. So much character 15 and 17 lack but could use more go too for harder to drive IEMs.
Oh wow, these are really cool. Just looked them up. I’m not familiar with speakers at all, but would it be possible to set up a sub for these in a semi-easy way? If so, I might keep my eye on these for a future purchase.
It’d have to be a wired source into a subwoofer that has RCA line in and RCA line out capabilities, and then into the M60 speakers; you’d want a preamp to run RCA to the sub and then RCA to 3.5mm from the sub to the M60s. If you went Bluetooth or USB directly to the speakers instead of using something with an analog out it’d be a non-starter.
Edit: you could also use a Y-splitter from the preamp (with one set of RCAs to the speakers via 3.5mm and the other set to the sub with RCA line in) but a setup with high-pass for the speakers would be more ideal, assuming that the M60 wouldn’t already compensate with DSP to prevent running the woofers too low. Edifier’s app for the speakers appears to have a rudimentary fixed-band EQ where you can cut the speakers at 62hz, which would be better than nothing but not as good as a real high-pass or true PEQ solution.
tl;dr Yes, it can be set up kinda easy if you have a preamp and the right subwoofer to use with the speakers otherwise I probably wouldn’t go this route for a full-range setup.
Oh damn, that makes sense. It’d be nice if they had a dedicated sub for this specific system that also works via BT. That’d be a dope little set up if you ask me.
I reckon this is a bit much for me. 58Hz isn’t bad but there are quite a few of my favorite songs that go down to around 30-40 Hz with really strong basslines which act as like the backbone of the song. Without it, the songs just sound flat and 1 dimensional.
Fiesty by Fred Again… is the first example that comes to mind right away.
The challenge would be in synchronizing/reducing latency so the sub plays its beat at the same time as the speakers. Signal from source has latency to speakers, then speakers to sub…but they could have configurable delay so the speakers held back waiting for the sub…hmm.
58Hz is probably a stretch. The lower the wavelength the more air must be moved. I have a 3-4 years old JBL Charge 4 that plays impressively low for it’s size. Passive radiator helps lower and increase output.
They make one that is impractically large much like the huge boom boxes of the late '70s and '80s but I’m sure it’s enough to enjoy while playing on the beach (but don’t please cause others won’t like your music )
I’m still old school in my shop. A pair of Ascend Acoustics Sierra 2 I think with RAAL ribbons. Totally overkill but they sound great driven by an old Denon AV receiver with BT.
For sure, unless you absolutely needed the formfactor or intended to mostly play things that don’t need sub reinforcement then there are almost infinite better options. Both Edifier and Swan have mutiple options that will reliably play lower, have an included sub, or are designed with sub integration in mind. I know your library and these would not do it justice haha.
Check out the Kanto Ora and their matching subwoofer, I bought them along with an A-T turntable and Wiim ultra for a mates kids xmas back in 2014 - wonderful sounding small/tiny desktop setup
You would be correct, Sir. @domq422 These little M60s are just right for I need them for, and they sound great, but They are not going to knock your socks off or anything. This is just a solid, portable, small footprint solution to get me some sound in the garage. No critical listening will be done here! I have used up all my gear in other places, and I had to stay on a strict budget to go new. For this, these meet expectations.
Got these as a daily beater ANC headphones. Surprisingly good sound quality and even decent mic quality. The ANC is very good too and that’s with glasses on. I’ve been travelling a lot lately for work and these are great for in flight peace and on trains as well. The battery life is good too. And since I got it for just $10 on sale with additional discount vouchers it’s a steal!
I purchased the Cadenza II yesterday and received them today. There simply is no fun in these IEMs due to its annoying things. I will keep them for reference.
