What did you buy today? (Part 2)

“Won” a $20 Skullcandy coupon a few months ago that expired soon. I am not an IEM guy, but wanted to try some for the gym. Figured I’d try some crappy basically free iems, and if I actually like/use them, then I’ll upgrade to something quality.

And mostly so I could post this here.

Hello,
Dac Nu prime Hi mdac with Apple adapter for the camera arrived for mobile use for the tablet and smartphone.
Replaces the Hidizs S3 which stops working after a loose contact.

Not a bad dac, even though the Ify Hip Dac was still on the table.
The sound is quite natural and warm and plays down very well with the Emu Purpleheart.
I think it plays better on the Apple than on the Android tablet.
Since Apple still offers presets under the music settings instead of an Eq, I found it best with the soundness function.
On the Android it plays a little less well, I personally find it a little less warm but more neutral than on the Apple.

I also looked at Dap, unfortunately most of them can’t be used offline, which is a real pity for the monile use.

It’s a pity that there was no Lightning cable or adapter for the money.
Unfortunately, there are no good apps on the tablets to possibly perform an upscale, if then only in certain players where no streaming providers are supported.
Nevertheless, you can be satisfied with 16/48 for mobility.

If only spontaneous purchases weren’t a thing… :joy:

As far as spontaneous purchases go that is a good one. I really like that headphone.

I hope it will turn out to be a good purchase. I read that they really, actually, take advantage of burn-in, so that’ll be interesting to see (Or heear, rather).

These headphones convinced me of burn-in. They need a good few hours on them before they start to sound normal. At the start they sound very flat with no bass but give them a while or leave them playing music on their own and then they start to open up.

Hell yeah!! Enjoy!

Well, I ended up buying something very unrelated to audio. A Mazda 6 2.2 DE Optimum. But since it was fully kitted it actually comes with a pretty decent sound system. Despite my misgivings about Bose in general, for a car the sound is pretty damn pleasing. Works wonders over BT and I’ve got remote controls on the steering wheel so no need to fiddle with shit on the central control panel mid-drive.

It’s also a joy to drive on the road and hopefully it will be with me for many years to come.

Congratulations. I have the same stereo system in my 2019 Mazda CX-5 Touring. It isn’t bad at all for a non aftermarket system. My only complaint is that the UI is pretty slow when trying to change tracks or artists…but small complaint.

Bose auto systems are something that’s good if it comes with the car but not if you have to install it.

Yeah there’s just some minor delay, but I’m not too fuzzed about it. If I can control bandcamp, qobuz, or PowerAmp from my steering wheel I’m more than happy enough. Haven’t checked yet if it works over USB, if so I’ll bring the Hiby R5 into the car so I can take a larger library with me.

Haha, true that. Thankfully I don’t think I’ll have to fiddle with anything unless something breaks down.

You bought a stereo system, so what’s the problem?
Yes, there is a car attached to it, but if you can live with that, then congrats with your new stereo!
