Definitely Hifiman Edition xx or Ananda since I cant wear sundara due to large ear size, Beyerdynamic T1 is most definitely on my list. then also look more into getting a tube amp for the fun of it lol
I’m looking forward to the fidelio x3/00… there’s whispers of July online
Can you please share which IEMs follow the HRTC almost perfectly ?
My only finding is the sennheiser IE 40 Pro.
All my headphones require EQ to follow Harman curve, otherwise they sound off. Except HD800 which works only with diffused field curve.
I will greatly appreciate any help.
There are too many to actually list. But of the one’s I’ve personally heard, Shozy Form 1.1 are probably the most affordable pair of IEMs that closely match the HTRC.
I want the Klipsch HP-3.
My next pair in the far future will likely be another pair of ZMF.
Later this year I really want to DIY a Grados.
ikko oh10, elex
Well, when this thread began, it would have been the Abyss 1266 Phi TC’s. I got them a couple weeks ago… I’m done forever. ha.
Nice, great phones! What amp have you been using them on?
Ha. I’m almost embarrassed to say that I am using an Xduoo TA-20 right now.
On my radar is the Manley Absolute. Although, I’ve been interested in the stuff from Auris as well. The problem is that I splurged on the Abyss without ever listening to them (like a jackass). I don’t want to do that with an amp too. So, IDK what route I will go. With the apocalypse, it could be a while before I can audition any amps. I don’t even know what is around here. I may end up checking out some places in Dallas one day. (I’m just north of Houston.)
That’s a nice amp, it works ok with mine, but personally I don’t know if I would grab it for the abyss in that range (although the tone controls are pretty nice to have for fun)
Would be a pretty solid idea
I also looked at the Cayin HA300. There was a big argument on Drop about it when the Absolute was on there. I got curious and started looking. ha.
I’d like too hear some Woo audio stuff. I think the WA33 is probably out of my price range, but the 22, maybe? IDK. I really kinda want to wait until we get a new house. I’m not a fan of the idea of moving with that stuff. ha.
I’ve also considered going with something from Schiit or a Cavalli Platinum or something like that. IDK. I’m just trying to stave off a severe addiction at this point. haha.
That’s another solid pairing, but I actually haven’t used my pair on there that much, might do that tonight lol. The woo stuff is solid, but you would want to look used for their amps as they can be a tad overpriced new imo. So far my favorite amps for the 1266 have been the Viva Egoista 845, Apex Pinnacle 2, Eddie Current Studio T, and an Oji Special BDI-DC44B G Tune (but I just got this one in recently so not a ton of experience with it yet). Abyss’s own Formula S is solid as well. Some of my other amps don’t do it justice well, it does like a lot of power behind it but also pretty quality power at that
So personally I haven’t liked it on the higher end schiit amps (although if they make a new higher end amp I would be very curious to hear it from what they are releasing in the lower end), cavalli makes some real solid stuff, also look for his more high end designs like the liquid gold (I like the 1266 on there too)
Awesome, thank you. I’ve never heard of any of those. ha. I’ll give them a look too.
I also have some DIY speaker kits from GR-Research that I need to get built.
I still can’t believe how well the TA-20 does with the 1266’s. I do have to turn it all the way up to 75-80 to really enjoy it, but it’s still good for now. I’m not exactly patient, though. I nearly bought the Absolute a couple times and had to talk myself out of it… my wife helped too. ha.
She’s told a few people she married a dumbass that spent $6k on headphones. haha.
Nice, haven’t really heard much of those, seem pretty interesting
The abyss scale very very well, should be interesting
Oh, I also looked at the Pathos Inpol. Steve Guttenberg had tried out the 1266’s on one. It looks interesting. I wish there were just a ton of Hi-Fi stores all over the city here. ha. I used to have frequent trips to Dallas, C19 has killed of a lot of the onsite work I used to do. It was already slowly being phased out, C19 went ahead and just killed almost all of it. ha.
I guess it will be some sort of “family trip” where I ditch everyone to listen to headphone amp pairings. ha.
Don’t have that one, but from the brief period I have heard one, sounded pretty nice
It’s unfortunate that they are becoming less and less common
Wow. The Egoista 845 looks amazing.
That is one thing I’ve realized. You pay to hear quality, but a lot of the hardware is also an art piece at times. I really love the Auris Headonia. I think it is by far my favorite. That 845 is pretty close, though. Looks like an Italian sports car with tubes. ha.
Very true, personally I am not as big into aesthetics as others, but you gotta respect the designs people make for some audio equipment
