honestly I was part of the very few that was on board with this but I haven’t thought about the phone headphone jack as I have been using bluetooth outside since at least 2014 been using Bluetooth for too long even before it got good. just our of pure utter hatred for cables when outside.
Pretty much agree with the x2, as you really need to love big boomy unclean bass that dilutes the midrange to like this headphone
Also with the AKG K553 the tuning was more of the appeal, so if you didn’t like the tuning chances are you didn’t enjoy it
I see, those are interesting to hear about though overall I trust AKG in terms of doing their products and most of the time you can never go wrong with them. I am not sure about Fidelio though since I am not too familiar about their products.
Its a brand by Phillips (the big company that produces alot of things), and people really seem to like the shp9500’s and the x2’s alot, while really didn’t think they were that great unless you cared alot about comfort or got caught up in the hype
actually thats one headphone I coudn’t personally get behind I gueess I have a thing against bright no lo end headphones the shp 9500s were underwhelming and honestly not my favorite headphone. I love the X2’s but Im a bit of a bass head and kinda like the aesthetic of heavy bass distortion it’s fuun but shp’s aren’t boring but just uunenjoyable to me. I much prefered the sound of the akg k240 or the hd 559.
- First major disappointment in the headphone world was HD6XX’s. Flat, boring and so open that you needed a sealed room to enjoy them.
- NightOwl Carbon. Fell in love at the shop. Within a month I truly hated them. Did not care for the sound signature at all.
- HE4XX’s. Sound muffled to me. Have tried five different amps and nothing can fix them. And with the recent price drop, they are unsellable.
Love my Grado GH2’s, Meze 99 Classic’s and Beyer T5p.2’s. Still learning about my Shure 1540’s and Senn HD58X’s

That is actually the first time, I see someone that did not liked the HD6XX for they are usually receive high praise from buyers who bought it. Also yeah with open backs, it’s not all sunshines and rainbows for each person using those and I have yet to get an open back for myself.
Well I did liked the M40x overall but there are 3 things that I didn’t liked about it. First, are the ear pads, I can tolerate wearing some headphones in a longer duration but these ones just hurts my hears like goddamn and my current CoolerMaster MH751 are WAYYY even more comfortable to wear in terms of ear pads. The second one that I hate about the M40x are the wires of it, I mean sure they are detachable and also gold plated which is a plus, but if I want to have a wire that I can use outside for casually I sure HELL won’t use any of those wire for they are too long to be used outside. The last one would be the build, because mine this year broke (thanks to my little brother’s accidentally sitting on it), and the one that is disappointing about it are the hinges which broke.
I fixed the 2 cons of it when it was still all working back then, by getting some new pads particularly the Brainwavz one also memory foam, and a wire that is at the right length also braided and pretty much can be used outside. Overall I still love the M40x but there are parts that were a bit of a pain.
Yes, I am usually Quite alone in my distate for HD6XX’s, to put it mildly.
I don’t find most open backs that “open”. My favourite headphones are my Grado’s.

Ok, not sure that many will agree with my opinions, but whatever. The first set I bought after really reading a lot about this hobby was the HD650. At first I thought they were fine, and could enjoy music with them. But then I decided closed backs were in order as well. So I bought the DT 770. And that led to other things, which made me realize I don’t care for extremely neutral cans. Thus I count the 650s among the one’s I don’t care for. Along the same lines, I also had a pair of Mr Speakers Ethers. My description of them would be they sound like the 650s only more so. The biggest plaus as far as that goes is they may have been the most comfortable set I had. They’re gone now as well. I had a pair of ZMF Ori’s and they were way too dark for me. Even after digging into them and removing some of the inner foam. Gone. But I don’t really hate any of those, just didn’t care for them. I only could think of 2 I hated. The Beyerdynamic T90. Screaming treble pain. And the Kennerton Vali. Not because of the sound, but because they were the most god awful uncomfortable things I’ve ever had the displeasure to try. Could never get them adjusted to sit on my head when it didn’t feel like the slightest movement would launch them off. And the pads blow.
In my search for more soundstage, the Akg q701 and k702 have been huge failures…average soundstage, average sound, so I’m taking them back to Amazon. I had a 5$ off coupon on Ebay and got the the white Akg m220 for $53.99. It sounds better and has better soundstage, but it’s not the bigger soundstage I’m looking for, but great for the price. Got the Beyerdynamic dt 770 80ohm and it has great soundstage but needs some serious burn in. It might be what I’m looking for.
What about the K701s? My friend always suggesting it to me and says it is better than the K702. Perhaps a try on that one wouldn’t hurt that much I mean there are some older models that are just outright better than the new models, kind of like I find the M40x better than the M50x.
I always found Beyer soundstage and imaging to be some of the best. But if you just want something wide that audio Technica air series is what you should be after they sound boring but have really wide soundstages
Theirs definitely a chance that the quality has gone down on their headphones…hmm.
That was one of my possible choices, but the headband and detachable cable. M0N recommended these for imaging? Their goes ears being different again…
I’m good for now on akg’s, I’ll see if these bayers work out.
But they are very close to your ear sounding??? They have great imaging and all but really not a wide soundstage imo
I personally find soundstage to be pretty much a non factor. As long as it has a soundstage and that soundstage doesn’t cause a problem I really don’t seem to notice if it’s “wide” or “narrow” (other than the “in your head” Tin P1). The music I’m listening to seems to have more of an affect on soundstage than the headphones. But that’s just me.
I think, I am that guy who is like all aspects from a headphone are ALL important. meaning I am that guy as much as possible wants to have an audio that has good bass, mids and trebles (depending on my own taste). As well as overall good detail, imaging and soundstage. Basically I want headphones or IEMs that are good all-around.
Beyers or air series?
