What headphones have you tried and do not like overall?

The ad700x, ad900x, etc. So air series

I do t know last time I tried the ad900x I thought it sounded pretty damn wide

Interesting, I have mainly thought of the air series as very open sounding and spacious but with a very intimate sound

AKG K420. I bought this when I was getting into headphones. I bought the PX100 and the KSC75, both I love. The AKG K420 I still have, and only as a reminder of how narrow they sound. Can’t listen to them for more than a few minutes. If we’re talking about headphones we use to love, but don’t give them the time of day anymore, that would be the Sennheiser Momentum 2 over ear. They just sound congested to my ears, and lack definition in the low end.

EDIT: I haven’t listened to the K420 for years. Decided to give them a listen again, and I really love them. I still stand by what I said, they are narrow, not as much as I thought. Really clear sounding. Vocals sound good on them. There is sparkle in the treble, although not as bright as the KSC75, but certainly so over the PX95/100-ii. The bass is quick and punchy, with good extension for an open back. Now, I want to see if I can get my hands on a pair of K412p, since I digg how they look.

I didn’t see why everybody drooled over the Argon mk3s honestly. I bought them, waited all that time, had a few amps with plenty of power for them, and I though they were just okay. I can see why people love them, just wasn’t my cup of tea I guess.

I think it’s more of a unique sound signature, but really nothing mind blowing, but it does fill a specific role that some really like. It’s just hard for me to recommend them because in the end for the price I think you can get a much less finicky refined headphone (and also not have to wait an eternity lol)

My thoughts exactly. With all the hype surrounding them, I had this expectation of mind blowing and I was ultimately let down a bit. Again, not bad, bit like you said definitely not mind blowing. Ended up selling them, and got about 80% of what I paid so it was worth it just to see what they were all about I guess.

Yeah, its more for someone who is fairly deep in the hobby with multiple pairs and some powerful amps, as I think they go well as a more unique piece in a collection to take out occasionally for some situations, but I feel like people wouldn’t really enjoy this as a daily driver after hearing a more balanced pair of headphones

tin t3 put me off tins products as a whole didn’t like the fit they broke in a week. sound was fine but didn’t blow me away like it does some people.

Exactly. Then my pair developed a rattle, talked to Ryan about it and he said he’d fix them free of charge but then entirely stopped answering me. I took it upon myself to open them up and figure out what was causing the rattle and when I got them opened up, I was even more disappointed with what I paid the money for honestly.

I also really wasn’t a fan of the t3 tbh. I much preferred the t2

I haven’t tried them as I am worried they will break quickly

Well you are more paying for the skill and know how of ryan and his modding ability over the actual parts used. I don’t really care how expensive some components are in raw cost, as the sound matters to me more, so you essentially paying for R&D of his modding ability

Strange that your pair broke. I know alot of people with tin products that say they are pretty solidly built and preforming (myself included)

If you go to drop lots of people had bad mmcx like me

Interesting, well it seems that there have been some bad batches then, which is unfortunate

I’ll admit, you have a point there

I mean that’s pretty much what you are paying for alot of higher end audio gear. The designs and know how of the company/individual that are able to make something that sounds so good.

Recently with the cheap stuff getting so good is designs that don’t cost alot to create and chinese manufacturing driving price down. Also technology trickling down

Definitely makes sense. I’m pretty happy with everything I have right now. Elex and NDH20s are my 2 go to sets now. Only thing I was thinking about maybe an upgrade is a speaker amp and/or speakers. Currently running rb42s off the emotiva a100, going through a minidsp for crossover abilities.

I mean if you did want more out of your speaker setup, upgrading the speakers themselves would make the bigger difference imo as the basx is a good amp that you don’t really need to change tbh
