What Is happening?! M1570, M1070, M570 from Monoprice THX AAA 887 Too!

Too expensive for my tastes:rofl:

too expensiveā€¦even if itā€™s turns out to be a clone of a headphone that is 8x the priec cough LCD4 cough?

Zeos will either love or despise the 1570, I think it will be like, but it would be contrary to the LCD 4 review where he doesnā€™t prefer the intensity of sound for the cost. So lower cost to that of Sendy then maybe becomes more positive. I want more info, im all antsy in my pantsy to find out the goods!

Iā€™m more on the fence if they can even deliver that performance in the first place. And for the m1070 I wonder what he will think now that he figured out the sundara is pretty great lol. Also the phantoms as well

Looks like SMSL is getting into the THX game too.

Very very interesting. Thx is really going with whoever will make them money then lol. Well crap now I gotta wait for this before I pick up the 887

Is this a complete copy of LCD series headphone? Itā€™s made in China which is known for copying auto industry and pissing off car manufactures around the world.

So how many Avias rebranded are there now? All the manufacturing is done in the same place in China. A good example is vape industry where you have different company names but all done in same city.
I guess Hifiman is off limits never see their stuff copied. Iā€™ve gone to Chinese websites and have seen many copies.

hope the SMSL has pre-outā€™s for powered speaker systems!

We donā€™t know for sure yet, but the previous m1060 was rumored to be copying an lcd3 design, so perhaps I think the 1570 is copying the LCD 4 because what I have mentioned before.

There are easily over 5 headphones with the aiva driver now, but thatā€™s a little different since they are selling that driver to anyone, where monoprice would have to try and reverse engineer the LCD driver because audeze definitely wouldnā€™t sell it to them

For those of you who are wondering how the 887 will compare to the Massdrop 789, I found this page, and this person ran some tests that show it to outperform the 789 by a few dB I believe, so only slightly. Take it as you will.

How hard should I be kicking myself over getting the 789 with a November delivery date?

Not really at all. I feel that more then most would be having a very very hard time finding a difference between the 887 and the 789. Really no reason to care imo. The main benefit is that the 887 isnā€™t from massdrop and might be readily available lol

Yes even from the review it seems that they are practically the same amp, with only the slightest differences that hardly matter. It does seem however that the shorter wait time for the 887 is a big plus. The 887 is also slightly longer in length.

This is unacceptable. I cannot believe that the 789 is not as long as the 887. I must get rid of this minuscule 789 filth

Bigger is better in ā€˜Murica baby, we like it jumbo sized here and the Chinese will cater to our tastes. (Says the man who just bought the tiniest speakers ever!) LOL.

That could be interpreted in many different ways lol. Iā€™m glad there is context

Not even a little bit! The 789 is a spectacular amp and they are both provably transparent. Unless youā€™re an Audio Precision analyzer there is no difference. Amir, the highly qualified gentleman who does the testing cited above, has been very clear that the difference between these two units is academic. They are both audibly transparent. There are no degrees of transparency- once something is transparent you canā€™t get more transparent. Thereā€™s no such thing as ā€œeven more invisible.ā€

My THX789 arrived last week and I couldnā€™t be happier with it!

Iā€™m sure someone will figure out a way (or convince us that there is)
