So going back to the XD-05. At first I thought to upgrade to the M11 Pro and itâs 550 mw at 32 Ohm, but wouldnât just buying the Xduoo achieve the same target (To move hard cans) and save some money? Or would it be better to change the DAP as well?

I like the extra warmth in the music and the vocals that a bassy can provides, and you can always EQ the excess if the track warrants soâŠ
With a new DAP you save the extra device to take with you, but I find the xd05 plus has so much power combined with great dac/amp combo, that it is worth getting. I got the BT upgrade and the battery life is great, so BT is quite fine to use.
I have the M11 so for me it would not be relevant to get the Pro for just more power. I prefer having both a DAP and the xd05 as they can complement each-other.

Do you guys think that having the XD-05 voids the need to upgrade Dap from M9 to M11. Or the music quality is better in the latter?

I think that personally it wouldnât be worth it to go for the m11 or m11 pro if you have the 05 plus, I think a more logical upgrade would be the ifi idsd micro bl or something like that unless you really wanted a new dap

Being that the case, M9 + XD-05 plus. Would you use the xduoo only as amp, or would you connect it via USB and also use the Xduoo DAC?
I would connect the m9 to the xd05+ via USB to use the dac and amp inside the xduoo

Received XD-05 plus last week. Got a few hours in. Only got to try my Sennheiser 598CS and huge difference. I canât wait to try the Aeon 2 with it, once I receive the pair.
I should probably being the XD-05 home to give it a run with my Elex, 6XX and 800s.
But all in all very pleased with the XD-05 plus.
Only downside, sometimes, it seems like my phone doesnât see the DAC and the XD doesnât receive any input from my One Plus 7 pro.
I had to unplug and replug a few times.
Going Bluetooth would fixe this, but worried Bluetooth would affect the performance.

I use the Xd05 Plus with BT and it works flawless and the battery time is insane good. The specs are:
Battery life: â„13 hours (USB in), â„21 hours (SPDIF in), â„40 hours (aux in)
And with BT you have more than 21 hours and the BT itself lasts 15 hours.
The performance is not lesser due to BT. I like the Xd05 Plus better than my THX dac/amp from Monolith.
On top of that I have changed the opamp to the BURSON V5i Dual OPAMP and that is changing the sound to the better:

To simplify, it really improve EVERYTHING!
SOUNDSTAGE feel it extend in both widness and deepnest due to a more airy presentation and probably better amping stability with lower harmonic disortion.
IMAGING gain in separation distance and layering is way clearer, in fact, this is surely the biggest improvement and it was already good with stock Opamp.
CLARITY gain in definition too, timbre is fuller, with better texture and rounder presentation.
BASS is more bodie and impactfull, the slam have more weight and authority and yet better control as well. Now, the separation between sub bass and mid bass is more agile and faster.
MIDRANGE became thicker, slightly more forwards, with more bodied vocal that feel wider and more transparentâŠman, its as much transparent than thick and lush, wich really improve whole imaging from 1khz to 8khz.
TREBLE is now less aggressive and more sparkly, while it was sharper with OP1612. It make the whole sound more balanced with natural decay to highs attack.
All in all, the improvement in sound is seriously intense with the V5i upgrade and transform a good DAC-AMP into an excellent one.
