XDUOO XD-05 vs XDUOO XD-05 Plus

Is there a difference in sound between the singles and dual burson v5i on the xd-05 plus? Is it better to just go with the dual?

I think the dual is what you’re supposed to use on the xd-05 plus. It’s the only one I’ve seen referenced, so I don’t know if you can even use the single.

The xd-05 plus can accept 2 singles or a dual, at least from the specs from headphonesty.com. I dont know if anyone has been able to test if 2 singles make any sound difference to a lone dual.

You may be right though as the note at the bottom mentions the dual burson or a pair of muses03. :man_shrugging:

It’s my understanding you can use 2 singles or 1 dual (x2 not x1)… I’ve ordered the 2 singles so I’ll be able to confirm firsthand

Awesome! Hopefully you dont get the crackles that person was talking about with the pair of singles.

Out of curiosity why are you going pair of singles over the lone dual?

I wish I could find the thread but I believe it was headfi or maybe drop… there was a member who had compared and was saying 2 singles was the way to go… that said I remember them reporting only a slight difference

Well from that same burson site someone used the single dual and dint seem to report crackling sounds vs the one you linked using 2 singles… hopefully a fluke.

I’m hoping for no crackling :+1: lol I ordered these awhile ago so hopefully they show up soon so I can share my findings

Waiting for mine to arrive as well. Also want to know if you had two singles or a double? Opamp?

Oh sorry, Ithought you asked M0N earlier
I went with the double as that was the one I saw good reviews about and I am very satisfied. But it will be interesting to hear about your 2 singles.

Anyone here experiencing any issues with the plus? Lots of weird not detected when connected to a laptop comments on the drop discussion.

I’ve never had an issue with mine… I use it as a desktop amp dac and as a dac with a topping pa3 and it works flawlessly :+1:

Well I guess I will never be able to use it, only in my dreams.
But there’s the Plus version! :stuck_out_tongue:

2 singles fit… can confirm

Yes but only when turning the volume knob and only really audible on high gain… noise floor is still silent to my ear (high gain volume cranked)

These opamps sound really nice

The burson opamps are pretty sweet, what do you think the differences are so far?

Why did you go for the two singles instead of the one double? I am very interested because I will most likely follow your steps…

hmm a little more clarity and crisper… still trying to determine why I like what I hear lol

@Davidibiza I’d recommend it if you don’t mind the sound when turning the volume knob :+1:

Awesome! Mine should be coming this week.

I read the discussion on Drop of someone that did have the singles vs the dual. That is also the behavior they experienced which is less noticeable on the dual, probably because 2 opamps do more work than a dual  Based on the pic, it seems you also have them slanted as it is the only way to get them to fit. Does it also rub on the roof of the housing or were you able to get it down enough?

Last question, yours came with the 6.7 firmware already right?

Yeah that’s correct but the pins get sufficient depth so it’s really only a cosmetic thing

No not at all

Yup just checked and everything is up to date

Let us know what you think when you get yours in! It often takes me awhile to get a feel for new gear but I’m noticing better separation and an all around more effortless sound… im glad I did it
