Its pretty nice with the burson … the og opamp is pretty great too thought tbh … just depends if it’s worth the cost to you and you want something a tad more refined
To be honest I don’t even know if I could hear the difference lol.
Stuff like opamps is subtle but noticeable, it’s something you appreciate with usage and realize how that extra quality helps

Just got mine over the weekend. As a portable it is definitely a beast! To my ears it sounds exactly like my Sanskrit Pro + K5. Though the K5 is louder on mid gain vs the plus on mid, I did not venture into high as I dont have anything that needs more than a low at noon. So if I do go for an opamp change to the v5i it should be a good comparison vs my desk setup.
Versus my FiiO X3ii, they seem similar though i can sort of hear less sharpness on the P1 connected to the plus. Maybe longer listens will be needed.
I tested it by connecting the headphone out on the plus, the fiio and the K5 to my headphone input switcher.
Also, I opted for the Bl05 pro and that is an awesome addition. I got to test all types of lossless BT connections and it is lag free for video and gaming (dint do sbc though, because why would you wanna do that?).

Does anyone have a case they can recommend? The closest i can seem to find is a pelican 1040 micro case.
I feel you, got mine real recently too and it’s pretty amazing. Pairs well with all my headphones (altho the only one I’ve been using for a while is the Nighthawks). But it sounds so clean and powerful that I’m shocked to get this sound quality portably. Not to mention the battery life, real solid. I’ll get the opamps down the line for sure, so for its so amazing already that I’m not in a hurry tho. 250+265 for the combo of Nighthawks and xduoo plus tho is so fucking worth it tho lol. Don’t even need to power anything else

I got this for my XD-05; it fits perfectly, but with the BT attached it is very tight, but it works ok.
I got it at amazon.uk, but it may be in the US as well.

Can someone describe to me how or if this unit colours the sound? I have nothing to compare it to
xd-05 plus
I just compared the Topping N3xs with The Xd-05 playing from the Fiio M9 via aux in and IMO the topping colors the sound quite a bit, whereas when changing to the Xd-05 sounded way clearer. More transparent and a bit more soundstage. But I am a noob, so take this with a pinch of salt.

Hey right on thanks… I did have the ifi zen for an insignificant amount of time but the main take away was the xd05+ showing improved soundstage so our noob ears jive on that lol

I would say it is transparent in the AKM chip standard. Its not as bright as the Cirrus and (though I have no reference that I own to compare) less “anaytical” than the Sabres. I was really eyeing and close to getting the NX4 just so I would have a nice Sabre DAC in my arsenal or even saving up for the iFi Micro BL.
Since you had the zen would you say it was warmer than the plus’ sound? Which is how the Burr-Browns usually sound.

Funny how I did a search for Pelican Case alternatives and it suggested Nanuk which is way more expensive. 
Maybe I should have added “cheaper” as part of the search.

Yes… warmer and more intimate (less soundstage) and the bass boost is much better on the zen… it’s pretty nice tbh
