Hereās a better picture in more natural lightā¦
That looks very nice.
Oh my! It looks like it matches the ebonyā¦
Very nice. Pick with both like zmf does?
Damn youā¦ Thought I was content with my stand, but this looks good!
Moved to Sanding and Finishing!! Getting closer!
I have been there over 3 weeksā¦
was about that in pending.
Itās all part of Zackās torture, as soon as you get comfortable with it being no time soon and reduce the frequency you look at the sheets, he moves you to get you excited again.
The sad part is we pay to be tortured
I have the TUBA and its an excellent EL84 parafeed ampā¦not a OTL ampā¦works very well with all kinds oof cans its very clean, open and transparentā¦
I use it with Focal Clears (my favorites) and have thought of getting the Aeolus but concerned about the treble and clairity and being too warmā¦I can listen for hours with the Clears and love the tonalityā¦
My Tuba Review
Please dont take all the DS vs R2R ASR measurement stuff to seriouslyā¦your not comparing apples to applesā¦too many folks have no idea how an R2R dac well designed and made really work.
The sound experience with a good R2R dac like a Schiit Bifrost 2 is absolutely exceptional. Period.
That said many DS dacs are great as wellā¦but after several DS dacsā¦they are all sold and the only dac I use is a Schiit B2ā¦its that good IMOā¦one less thing to worry aboutā¦

I think that if you want a SD that can give the same performance as a higher end multibit/r2r, you need to spend the big bucks. Iāve got a Berkeley Alpha Reference Series 2 dac that can preform just as well as my other non sigma delta dacs, but you pay for that performance (although I will say for mastering work I really only use sigma delta gear). Otherwise I think if you are in the 1k range for a dac, a r2r or multibit is the way to go imo
The tuba being otl is something I went off from M0N, but M0N realized otherwise and has since corrected me. As far as the aeolus goes, They are only too warm with the stock aeolus pads. None of the other pads are too warm and the treble is great on them. The universe leather pads give it a nice balanced slightly punchy sound that I prefer. Only issue some seem to have is amount of detail retrieval for the price. And yes, I can listen to the aeolus for hours too. The way it sounds off the tuba is mindblowing.
Also, Iāve already read your review, it was one of the first things I read after M0N made me aware of the tuba and before I purchased one.
I wasnāt thinking initially, Iām not sure why my brain saw high z/low z and EL84s and went āwell clearly thatās an otlā lol
Great, glad you have a TUBA!!! Yeah!!
Its one of those real bargains and a simple but yet unique parafeed designā¦and it pairs with hi and low z cansā¦and its nice to hear its working well with the Aeolus.
This makes me want to hear these cans even more!!
If the Aeouls is as warm as I am reading and the clarity of the TUBA this might make a perfect storm for me hereā¦
I have sold almost all my headphones except for the Clears and the HD 600ās was thinking of just getting the drop 6xxās and be happy, but several folks I respect really like the Aeolus more than the Clearsā¦IMO thats a TALL orderā¦
Thanks for you feedback!
Alex
Interestingā¦
FWIW I wouldnāt describe the Aeolus as overly warm, they probably do slant down slightly, but not in an egregious way.
The characteristic I would most identify with the Aeolus is smooth, there is very little grain anywhere. I actually prefer then on SS because it addās a little bite into the top end.
The aeolus to me is just extremely smooth, pleasant, and unoffensive. Personally it lacks the technicalities for the price range to me, but if you just want to chill and not care they are pretty sweet
@lost33 I would highly suggest you look into the audio technica adx5000 if you want to try something that preforms very well on a tube
