What exactly do you mean by that? The verite is the totl for ZMF if thatās what you are asking
Iām still getting used to the Auteurs, but I think they may have the closest tuning to the Verites. The speed of the Verite driver is really what sets it apart and allows for all the extra detail, but most of the other positives seem to remain. I think they are going for a different tuning for each though, more so than the difference between the Elex and the Clear. I guess what I am saying is that none of the ZMFs feel like an underpowered Verite. They are all pretty different, and to me the Aeolus is the furthest from the rest of the pack. I havenāt heard the Atticus yet, and I know itās the same driver-I just canāt vouch for it. Heard the Verite Closed and I liked them a lot, but I like the Eikons enough that I donāt need another closed back right now
Yeah I know that, so wondering whatās like the super amazing bang for your buck with 90% the same sound as the TOTL
TBH I donāt really have a bunch of experience with the zmf to answer that question, from what I recall the verite is somewhat different compared to the other zmf
The Verite has a beryllium coated PEN driver. The Focal Utopia and Stellia also have solid beryllium drivers. The beryllium drivers are the reason these flagships cost so much. Beryllium is an ideal metal for a dynamic driver because of its physical characteristics. It is very lightweight and incredibly rigid. Many more times the rigidity of other dynamic drivers made from conventional materials.
The verite actually sounds kinda close to the utopia in technicalities because of this, I personally enjoy it over the utopia (but they do trade blows imo)
What is the typical wait people are seeing for getting a pair of these?
Itās the same for all the ZMFās - mine arrived last week, 6-7 weeks.
Might be slightly better now, because less holidays and because there was a run on Verite Closed after the release.
Though Can-Jam might result in a spike in sales so who knows
Also an upcoming bstock sale might be soon after the shows
Yeah thatās actually why Iām asking. Been in contact with Zach and I may be getting the Verite from can jam, and if I end up not liking them I was looking to see if there was any benefit to selling them to anybody here who might have to wait otherwise. I guess there would be
Iām responding to an old post, but Iām just now reading this thread. As most of us probably know DMS is now employed doing video and YT promo type content for Abyss. When he announced this on his YT channel he said he would continue doing reviews, but not of anything big $$ flag-ship-y, since that would suggest the possibility of a conflict of interest. So if he had done a Verite review he would likely have taken it down for that reason.
Same thing happened with a formerly regular YT reviewer named Aornic. When he became the ZMF distributor for Great Britain he said he would stop reviewing competing headphones. But looks like he simply stopped doing headphone all together.
Maybe. I feel like the video was taken down long before he made that anouncment and he still has his auteur review up last time I checked. It just vanished.
He posted the Verite YT review on Oct 16, 2019. Donāt know when he made the Abyss announcement and donāt know when he took the review down. But the comments under the review are dated as being 3 and 4 months ago.
Does anyone remember anything that he said about the Verite?
Mon have you heard the Aeolus and the Auteur yet? how does it compare to the Verite? Does the Verite have a sound signature?
Yes, I heard the entire focal lineup at canjam recently. Besides the verite I end up preferring the auteur and eikon the most. They are refined heavy hitters, very enjoyable for sure. The verite is a different sound, they are brighter, much more speed and detail focus, but not as warm and thick as the auteur or aeolus. I do like the aeolus but personally I think the signature and technicalities are good for the price but nothing really stands out to me with that headphone compared to the auteur or verite. The zmf lineup also responds to pad changes a fair bit, so the different pads can change the sound of the headphone to a significant amount
I heard the Auteur can create a image above your head. and that thats very unique to a headphone. what do you think?
Donāt you have one?
Kinda, but that didnāt really jump out to me, I feel like that most likely has to do with what pads you use. I would really have to get more time with them
Yeah i have both. The Auture sounds good, really good. Its like Zack excels at tuning and each headphone is a accomplishment in that. But he will sacrifice detail to get a great timbre and frequency response. I can understand why Zeos loves it so much. There are people out there who want timbre above all else. A good balance of frequencies above everything else. and sometimes detail and soundstage and other technicalities will get sacrificed for it. thats why when i and some others listen to it it doesnt sound like its worth its price. but maybe it is for some people.
