I have silk also, and I honestly think the difference in sound between woods is small after having heard a few varieties among several ZMF models

Well i was listening to a podcast interview with Zack. He was that Walnut gave resonance and unwated frequencies. said he was thinking of not using it anymore. did admit it might be placebo

Iām sure there would be a slight difference, and in cases like Ant mentioned above, possibly extreme for certain woods. The ones that seem to be in regular rotation though- sapele, silk, padauk, blackwood, etc., donāt seem to vary too much to my ears. I know a lot of people swear by the speed of the ironwood, but Iām happy enough with the silk. If I ever get a VC, I will probably wait on one of the cool new stabilized woods he was showing at CanJam

Worth trading everything else for me is the short review. Now itās all about building the rest of what I have around this headphone. FK it, buy your music to go with this headphone.
Maybe get something blatantly bright to pair with it just to refresh your brain sometimes. Maybe a Beyer or a Hifiman.
PS Focal is still amazing, but they gotta up their ergonomics game in my opinion.

Just ordered be2 perforated Hybrid pads off of Zachās recommendation, and the Auteur suede perforated pads as well. Time to experiment.

Real talk though, I think anyone who gets a Verite should try the Be2 pads. The simple fact that they exist tell me that Zach wasnāt completely satisfied with the Verite until they were created. Even he was looking for moreā¦
If you donāt need to go portable there are lots of options in a more reasonable budget. The hagerman labs tuba, cayin ha-1a mk2, bottlehead crack + speedball, Feliks echo or expresso, and more

Iām coming to grips with the reality that the tech I need to exist for the level of portability I want out of a tube doesnāt exist in this day and age.
But do those options serve as a sexy headphone stand as well as a great tube? hehe
I figure if Iām going to have a dedicated desk item taking up space on my already crowded desk I might as well having serving a dual purpose.

Itās pretty nice, I think itās a bit overpriced but looking 2nd hand might give some deals idk. Sound wise itās a more clean tube sound, so not super strongly colored compared to other amps imo
