I don’t know that it’s something anyone’s bothered confirming for certain.
Right here we go, straight from the horses mouth, Silver or Brown…no fucking gunmetal ok lol
There are more then one company selling them, and some of them DO advertise a silver and gunmetal, not just silver and brown.
Surely if the “3 colour variants” are tuned differently then this should be stated?..maybe the colours refer to the sound sig…Gunmetal having a quick response an in ya face style, Brown laid back with an organic earthy timbre and the Silver being bright with a shimmering treble? lol
ITS 2 COLOURS they just call the brown ones gunmetal
Here’s the problem: there hasn’t been any confirmation as to if “brown” and “gunmetal” are two different things, and not just different marketing teams slapping a different name on the same color.
Also, there’s no confirmation on if the different colors actually have different sound signatures. This is one of the rare instances where I would be okay with frequency charts. Though, as Zeos pointed out with his HE5SE review, bad eggs do exist. What I would propose in this case is to gather 20 samples of each “color” and test them, throwing out any big outliers. Then take an average of each color and compare them. If there is at least a, say, 5% variance between the colors, on average, then we could reasonably say there is a difference in sound signature. If not, then we know it’s all rumor and conjecture, and this argument can be put to rest.
Until someone does something like this, I’ll consider it as nothing more then that: rumor.
The Gunmetal color is really neither gunmetal or brown, it’s a sort of shiny brownish color.
Mine are “gunmetal”, but I can see the brown color being applicable.
I can’t comment on sonic differences since I only have one pair.
x2 …motherfucking 20 characters
Everything must be kept controlled, including the same tips, recording equipment, ect. Trying to keep track of how 20 pairs of each sound is maddening. Keeping a computer recording of where in the spectrum they are hitting is another. I would NOT reccomend using them to make buying decisions, but in testing to see if on average, there is a tonality difference in a product like this.
I doubt this too tbh the occasional QC prob and ill fitting tips make a big …blame the colour … really? lol
I’m sorry, have you been following the conversation???
If you’re going to quote me, don’t take me out of context.
Dude chill i’m agreeing with you
Dang things are really heating up in the Blon 03 Fandom. I think as long as you are happy with what you got it’s fine but if you got a lemon then amazon has a really great return program and try again.
Yep a banging pair of < $30-40 iem’s 100% …not like ya spunked on a Tia Fourte and fuck me the colour just messed with the sound…this stuff don’t happen…nope.
I think “brown” and “gunmetal” refers to the same thing. I bought the “brown” and received dark chrome. My gf got the “silver” one and they’re bright chrome. I think there are no third version, only two.
@yogiwp If you can, I would love to hear your thoughts on if the two colors sound different? Some people say the dark one is more bassy and the silver is more detailed. You are the first person I have seen who has both colors to compare them.
Actually I’ve been wondering the same. Problem is my gf lives in another country and we meet on weekends like every third week and always busy with um, other things and didn’t get a chance for proper listening. I will surely report if I do get the chance though.
Ah gotcha. Yeah it was just something I heard and was wondering about. Maybe it has to do with different manufacturing sites.
Yeah i keep seeing comments about different sounding variations. Just saw this on BGGAR’s community section:
The fact that Blons are tuned differently got me dissappointed in the brand. The first Blon I purchased I liked for a couple of days then I got tired because it had no depth in sound stage. Its too upfront and wide feels like I am sticking my ears on speakers. I bought a second Blon set same color and it was even worse. Less details more bass that makes other stuff muddy and the soundstage still the same. I still think the first Blon were worth the money but not the second one. And I’ve confirmed this with many people and other got crappy tuned sets of Blon too. The one you got either send on purpose to be that good or there were batches that were made that are lesser good than others. By now I’ve confirmed 3 different batches that comes with different pouches.
so it’s not the color it’s entirely on batches. that makes sense.
