🔶 GoldPlanar GL2000

I tried this but it makes no sense. It boost treble so much that it becomes razor sharp.

Verum is excellent. Best timbre in a headphone and the tonality is very nice and smooth. Definitely give it a try.

Yea im looking for good EQ too. Do share if you guys have been playing around with it.

Can’t go wrong with Xduoo

I worry something is wrong with Verum 1’s production right now.

I sent a message, using his contact form, asking for updates (placed an order weeks ago). I haven’t received any email back on response to my question. No tracking number, no email with an estimate on shipping. Nothing.

Was this normal for everyone who ordered from him? No responses from attempts to contact?

I want to assume he is just too busy and getting too many emails to handle, and that he’s making it and shipping in due time. But it’s weird giving him money with no communication back after trying to contact him. Makes me worried.

Following is my eq file for “Equalizer APO”. It’s theoretically works for both two kinds of pads, mine is “D” shaped pads. (I reffered to HD800’s curve and it works to eliminate some nasals and make the sound cleaner without losing basic features of gl2000)

Channel: ALL
Preamp: -6.2 dB
Filter: ON LSC Fc 60 Hz Gain 1 dB Q 1.5
Filter: ON LSC Fc 100 Hz Gain -1.2 dB Q 1
Filter: ON PK Fc 3000 Hz Gain 1.7 dB Q 2
Filter: ON PK Fc 3700 Hz Gain 3.7 dB Q 1.8
Filter: ON PK Fc 5300 Hz Gain -2.5 dB Q 3
Filter: ON HSC Fc 5600 Hz Gain 0.6 dB Q 1
Filter: ON HSC Fc 6300 Hz Gain 1.8 dB Q 2
Filter: ON PK Fc 6900 Hz Gain -2 dB Q 8
Filter: ON PK Fc 8100 Hz Gain 2.5 dB Q 3.5
Filter: ON LSC Fc 8000 Hz Gain 1.5 dB Q 3
Filter: ON PK Fc 8300 Hz Gain -3 dB Q 5
Filter: ON PK Fc 900 Hz Gain -1.8 dB Q 1.8
Filter: ON PK Fc 1100 Hz Gain -1.8 dB Q 1.8
Filter: ON HSC Fc 11000 Hz Gain -2 dB Q 1
Filter: ON PK Fc 12000 Hz Gain -2 dB Q 3.5

(PK means peaking, LSC means low-shelf, HSC means high-shelf)
The eq is something like this below. Hoping it can help people in need.

Yeah, this is what i deciced for myself, too. I’ll keep my sundara and will let the gl2000 pass.

I wonder, how the 1990 pro (with amiron foam discs) competes against the gl2000. Both are on the brighter side, are detailed and have a big soundstage. I would like to have a bassier alternative of the sundara and had the gl2000 and 1990 pro on my shortlist.

You can think of this as a useful tweak to the flaws, and it doesn’t have an exaggerated impact on the features of the headphones. There is no audible distortion in response to this EQ for gl2000.

I think it happens sometimes.

Either way, try sending an email directly to [email protected]

TRY THIS.
My fine tuning EQ.

Thank you! I just sent him an email.

There is a thread on SBAF detailing the miserable customer service the Verum dude delivers (or does not deliver).

Yea I’ve read about all the negative commentary regarding his service and his conversations online, but I’m trying to give him a chance to grow.

I respect that his latest public comments tried to address criticism and that he publicly stated he isn’t what people characterize him as.

He indeed handled customer service poorly with at least one person to their face, and he privately spoke very off color in many ways. Still, I want to look at his most recent public statements of apology and promises to improve as sincere. I don’t blame people for choosing not to give him a chance to improve his business relations, but i can’t refuse giving people a chance when they ask and try to do better.

I am liking this EQ a lot. Thanks for posting!

I’ve heard the 1990 Pro is more of a studio reference headphone so not sure it will give you what you want in terms of bass although they are quite bright.

My impressions after 250 hours burn in (purely subjective):

foobar2000–>SMSL SU-9–>SMSL SP400–>GL2000, all fully balanced.

Great soundstage. Amber Rubarth stunned me. I’ve listened to her ‘Sessions from the 17th Ward’ hundreds of times, and it still surprised me from the first cello notes.

Excellent imaging and resolution. Lots of plankton, although not on HD650 level. Still I was able to hear Amber Rubarth rubs her guitar against her clothes in ‘A Kiss to Build a Dream On’.

Good micro- and macrodynamics.

Good clarity but not exceptional. Blackground however is very black.

Transient response is exceptional. The bass is so fast that in the beginning I was thinking it was lacking.

Timbre is artificial, empty tin box like, mostly due to the 5k peak. Unfortunately in some recordings it affects the mids, and in result you suffer painful death by thousand needles.

General sound is warmish and depending on the track shouty and shrill, but not always. Don’t ever try to listen to jazz trumpet with a mute.

Real value: about $450.

Conclusion: technically competent, listening experience is hit and miss.

My eq settings in roon’s DSP.
It is used to improve the “hand over mouth’s sound” problem and improve the high-end responses. And it turned out pretty good.

I like your EQ settings more compared to Crinacle’s from personal preference. Boosted the bass a little and its closer to what I like. Thanks.

But I still like the tuning without EQ.

I’m content with the GL2k but out of curiosity and all the chatter in the thread, what performs better in soundstage than the gl2k? in the same price range? If there’s something with better soundstage and can compete with these in the price range, I’d be interested in auditioning a pair to compare to these… I’m not comfortable crossing the 1K mark for better soundstage but ooh I really like how large and big these sound.
