@VIVIDICI_111 You handled the review and criticism of the Diva very professionally. Giving them the benefit of doubt that maybe the previous user caused the issue and just your overall points towards them. I’m not sure I could have handled it as well as you did. Bravo to you for being so polite.
Oh stop it you, you’re making me blush
Was trying to be as fair as possible, so, I’m glad people took it well!
Wow, so I missed @ttorbic summoning me while I was on the road so I hope I’m not too late. I have found the ST20Pro and M4s (I’ve owned all the drivers) to be mediocre at best and terrible at worst. The FF3s on the other hand are one of my favorite pairs of buds. They have an awesome huge presentation with a wonderfully articukate and authoritative low end. The mids are detailed and tonally/timbrally accurate. The treble is a bit reserved for some folks, but I find it to suit the overall tuning and presentation quite well, making the FF3s a pair of buds that you can listen to for extended periods without fatigue. I also own the FF5s and while they are a solid pair if buds, I think the FF3s are where the special sauce is at in Fiio’s lineup. If it were up to me the FF3s would be a fixture in every earbud aficionado’s rotation. All of that and they are actually a damn good value for the money.
I hope that was helpful and that I got back here in time. Feel free to ask me anything else you might want to know. Also, the earbud round up thread over on head-fi is a great place to find info like this. It’s definitely one if the few threads that keeps me going to head-fi. It might help if I mention that the FF3s are very widely praised on that thread by me and many others, the M4s have mostly meh or negative reactions except for one that I can think of, and the ST20 Pros have gotten mixed reactions to say the least.
I know this is a bit of a late reaction, but this meme just killed me. I actually lol’d!
Welcome back man - you’re gonna love the new video format
Man, you are a breath of a fresh air in audio reviews. I watched your first one back in the days but could not follow with the memes used, so skipped the rest, but yesterday a review of Diva popped up in my feed and I gave it another shot. Now I think your format is perfect - I even bing watched your every thing since yesterday.
Your flow is also great, references to the volume used is ideal as it is rarely mentioned and you having no bullshit approach towards justification in prices between expensive and cheap IEM is up for my preference as well. Wish you would refer specific tracks a bit more, but that is a small complaint
Wow that praise is too much man!! Thank you I truly mean it. I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos though, and thanks for giving them another shot I’m not that good at explaining the tracks, but I’ll give it another try in the next vid for ya. Any specific genres you’d like me to test?
I think it is more important to have something that YOU are familiar with first and foremost. (and use a specific time stamp in the track as well is even better, with a direct link to it in the description.)
Then secondary priority is to have a bassy track, trebly track, vocal track and a balanced one for example.
So like maybe one of each of: hip-hop, EDM, Pop, Classical, WEEB tracks
Ya I have some stuff I test with, but it’s a good idea to be more specific, or just mention it more I guess. My playlist:
Yeah, it’s why I put a track list in all of my posts. I don’t think anybody uses it LOL but it’s there
Exactly - as Riku said - the best would be just referring to the tracks you like to listen and listen the most as that would be “closest to your heart” if I can say it like that. I also think that your taste is quite close to mine, so it works either way
Btw - you having Tea OG on 1st place for vocal set is a bit of a headscratcher for me. I am a vocalhead as well, I had Tea and got it sold to fund MEST and wanted to buy RSV one day, but then out of sudden you place it even higher on a list
MEST vocals are too pushed and light back for me, I like my vocals nice and forward The Tea scales amazingly at high volumes where many IEMs just fall apart - that’s why it’s high on the list as it fits my preferences perfectly
Man, under 5 bananas is a tough one. I’d say mine personally goes as follows;
- Panda
- OG Teas
- EA500
- Maestro Mini
- OG Wu/Timeless
The pandas just hit different and I still can’t put my finger on it, but I’ve been absolutely falling in love with the OG Teas the last few weeks. It has become my EDC fairly confidently.
Yo I forgot to include the Pandas because they’re so cheap I’d take them over blessing lineup any day. Great list
Top-5 under $500, you say? Call me back in a few weeks when I’ve maybe heard a few more heavy hitters, but for now here’s mine:
- Penon Fan 2
- Tri Starsea
- Simgot EN1000
- Panda
- Juzear 41T
Depending on the day and conversion rate, Voldermort would jump to number one pretty easily, if it qualified for under $500. 3 and 4 could flip spots once I have my set of Panda. And an honorable mention for Sound Rhyme DTE500 is well deserved because it’s super close between it and 41T.
EDIT: Forgot to mention Penon Serial: if someone’s preferences swapped Serial for Fan, I wouldn’t hold that against them.
But if I had to pick five under $500, that’s what my list would be today
- Glamdring
- Panda
- Juzear 41T
- OG Tea (Even though it’s no longer with me and also getting harder to acquire)
- Tri Starsea
Starsea I’m throwing their on a whim as @GooberBM set had the imbalance when I demoed it. Even with the imbalance it had a great tonality overall that I really enjoyed so can’t imagine a good set would shift my thought. I’m really interested in hearing the Kiwi Ears Quarter and Quintet to see where they’d fall for an under $500 set.
Speaking of Fan 2 these sneaky bastards just sent me a 50% off coupon
I need to re-listen to the starseas if you’re giving it so much praise
Glamdring letsgooo - hope I’ll get mine back soon, and I gotchu with the Quartet and Quintet
And I see everyone here is a panda fan
